EDIT: I totally didnt mean to disable comments...I didnt realize they were off :oD
I'm sorry for not updating LJ for the LONGEST time :o( But, Steve and I went out and bought a laptop so we can both be online at the same time so here I am! Here is a cute picture to make up for my lack of posts and updates :o) Am I forgiven yet?
My green eyed girl turned brown.
Let's see, I left off in Jan. A lot has happened which honestly I dont remember most of it--except for the fact that Steve and I got to try a bunch of new restaurants. I should really turn my LJ into a food journal since that's all I seem to write about these days...haha!
Last week Steve and I had Greek food at
Zorba's. It was the last place we ate before he went to Iraq and one of the first places we ate when he came back :o) We also go to try out a new Thai place called
Thai Spoon. It's a beautiful place and the food was wonderful! I think it's my favorite around the Austin area thus far.
As as usual, we went to the
Melting Pot again with Steve's friends Kyle & Alaina who are a dual military couple. We got one of my favorite waiters and the food was awesome as usual. They have a mediterranean themed menu for the quarter and the cheese is amazing!
We love fondue!
This past weekend, two of Steve's friends flew down to hang out, play lots of golf and watch the Super Bowl. On Saturday, we took Brian & Ash to the best Chinese in Austin,
Din Ho, where we met up with Lisa
lkf03 & Chris
chrisfalcone00 and Misti
concertina_40. We went back to our house to plan Cranium and Rock Band where Angela
canadagirl, Ken & Veronica and Kyle & Alaina came over before heading out to
Fogo de Chao which is a Brazilian BBQ steakhouse where they come table side to serve you 13 types of meat of skewers.
we love meat
Lisa & Chris, who also loves meat
Angela & Misti
Alaina & Kyle
Ken & Veronica
Brian & Angela caught off guard
ready this time!
after the salad bar & meat, there was still room for dessert :o)
the whole gang!
The next day, Super Bowl Sunday, I had a Girls' Night Out while Steve had a lil' get together to watch the game. Angela came down with her dogs so we took them and Coco to a leash free dog park in south Austin where Misti met up with Tremont. It was pretty interesting to see how Coco would act...she'd bark until she got attention and sniffed a lot of dog butts. After about an hour and a half, we took the dogs back, ate a quick dinner and reconvened to see Atonement which was pretty good!
Monday, Brian and Ash headed home and it was back to just me, Steve and the dogs. Tuesday, Steve and I went to downtown Austin to have dinner at the
Boiling Pot which is a cajun place where you eat off food put on butcher paper and eat with your hands. We got crawfish, blue crab, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatos dumped on butcher paper that me and Steve colored on..haha! It was pretty good though Steve thought it was too much work, but still fun to experience.
I feel like I'm 5 again!
We were downtown because we were going to go to see
The Bravery in concert. Since we still had some time to kill, we spent an hour at
Pete's Dueling Piano Bar where Steve really enjoyed himself. The bar was surprisingly was filled with an older crowd so a lot of the song requests were before my time, but nevertheless still entertaining. Finally, we made it over to Emo's for the concert which was AWESOME! The opening band was a band from the UK called Switches. They were pretty good, but The Bravery was awesome! We managed to squeeze our way to the FRONT! We were in the second row so I took a TON of close up pictures...here are just a few of my favorites. They'll be in Boston for 2 days while we're there so we may have to see them again!
so so so awesome.
haha, it says BUNG :oD
gotta love the action shots
Since Steve's started block leave, he's been home and I've been stuck working and it sucks! It just makes the day go by way slower :o\ Plus, we just end up going out for dinner since neither of us ever feel like cooking...lol. Once we return from Vegas and MA, we'll get into more of a routine when we're not eating out so much. But we did check out two new places. The first one we went to yesterday called
Ka Prow which I heard had really good Thai. Steve liked it better than Thai Spoon, but I didn't--still good though! The other we went to tonight called
Mimi's Cafe which is "upscale home styled cooking". I got a turkey pesto ciabata which was REALLY good and their black bean chorizo dip was, too.
So, that's basically been what I've been up to...hanging out with friends and eating out :o) I'm sorry I havent been very involved with LJ and that probably wont change until March (hopefully) since Steve and I leave for Vegas on Wednesday and then to Massachusetts for a week. I also bought plane tickets for our trip to Orlando next month...dang.
In any case, I hope everyone's doing well! Please update me on any big news since chances are, I didn't read it on LJ!
