a festive weekend

Friday after work, I went to the outlets where I did a quick shopping trip at Harry & David to get some items for Angela canadagirl's holiday party. I met Veronica there and after cracking open a bag of their cheddar sweet/savory moose munch, we went BACK to Harry & David where she got her own bags..lol. Lisa lkf03 and Misti concertina_40 picked us up and we headed to Angela's where Jenn renewedme, Sabrina brinaann and Leonie germangirl79 were, too.

I helped Angela with the kitchen prep while we all settled in and relaxed. Angela had for us curry/ginger rice, ginger plum chicken, taco salad, a veggie platter and made a dump cake. Jenn brought cookies and I mixed the H&D relish dip with their yum chips :o) We ate, we exchanged gifts and then Angela and Misti braved viewing the "2 girls, 1 cup" video while I taped their reaction. Veronica jumped in the last few seconds to see what the hype was about. If you dont know what I'm talking about, google it--but dont do it at work and make sure to have a waste basket nearby in case you throw up (which you 99% will). That became a running joke alllllllllllllllll weekend--lol.

We didn't get back until late and Lisa called and woke me up the next morning to see if I wanted to head up to the Killeen area early (we were planning to go up again for Anne's birthady dinner), and meet up with Vanessa zarahemt for a craft show. Lisa had planned to do some shopping that day, but I said if she was ok with it, then I was ok with it. So, I picked the gals up and Steve called :o) We got to talk for a while and he said that 1st brigade (the one he's in) was the only brigade in 1st cav that didn't have orders to go to Iraq yet and the only orders they had were to go to NTC in June '09. If all goes well, we wont even have to worry because he'll be in grad school and wouldnt be deploying anyway :oP

We made it to the Belton Expo Center and almost walked right by Vanessa...lol. We browsed around the booths and it was entertaining :o) Lisa and I tried on fake bling bling rings and I ate a lot of samples--hehe. Lisa got assorted xmas decorations since a few booths had their items marked 50% off. Vanessa got a flying pig sculpture, Misti got a pen that sticks to the fridge and I got a wall plaque of one of my favorite quotes (it's on my LJ too):

This is very true! Notice how it matches my wall exactly? Scary...
We had some time before the dinner so we hung out at Vanessa's house where we got to meet her new puppy Rusty! He was a cutie :o) Time seemed to go by fairly quick because before we knew it, we had to jet over to Angela's and pick her up. When she opened the door, she was in a robe as usual--lol. But, soon we were off to pick up Anne's gift and then to Olive Garden!

Dinner was great--a good number of people were there and the birthday girl sat next to me. I had a plan to have as many bowls of soup as I could handle and then take my entree home as leftovers--lol. Hey, if it's unlimited, I'm taking advantage of it! Zuppa tuscana is the shit and I had 3 bowls before I said mercy. Once we were outside, we were trying to decide what to do so we ended up going to TCBY for some yogurt before heading back for the night.

Today, I didn't leave the house at all. This day was totally dedicated to getting the house back into shape because all my weekends of going out (they're usually my cleaning days) had put the tidying of the house on the back burner. And because I had so many packages coming to the house, I had boxes everywhere, crap all over the countertops, my carpet hadnt been vacuumed in I dont know how long--I just had to do it. So, when I woke up, I got to work (I actually started cleaning when I got home the night before).

But while cleaning, I had the TV on and would take breaks here and there. I swapped the couches from the formal living room into the family room. I washed all the slipcovers and pillow so whenever Jenn is ready to pick up my other set of couches, they're right by the door, clean and ready to go! That in itself took forever. I did about 6 loads of laundry, washed all the doggie beds, did the dishes, scrubbed my cookie pans, mopped the floor, took out 2 bags of trash that was accumulated from the cleaning process, put away the fall decor, hung my Jew wreath (that doesn't light up anymore--*sigh*), vacuumed the 1st floor and the stairs (will do the 2nd floor before going to bed), dusted cobwebs, railings, etc. I also managed to watch Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Four Brothers and way too many episodes of John & Kate Plus 8 to the point where I could tell each of the sextuplets apart.

And tomorrow is Monday, but at least it's December now and I can officially say that Steve will be home next month :o) Whoo! And tomorrow, we're all going to the Melting Pot--teehee!
