Weekend in Review

Dang, what a weekend!

Friday night, we had SciFiFriday. We watched the previous week's episodes before that day's episodes. Some really good ones, too, including Rodney getting shot in the butt! And previews for the 200th episode of SG-1, which looks sooooooooooooo fun!

Saturday, I started out by busting my butt trying to get the prep done myself, and almost actually busted something tripping over the cat. ladyplatypus came over and helped, and when princedietrich got here, he played pack mule and hauled a bunch of stuff to the basement. We wound up ready just in time, and people started coming not long after.

We had the drinkables on the porch (soda, sangria, liquours, beer and mead) and the edibles in the diningroom, so we had a nice flow of people from one area to another. People who just met at the party got along. It was a great atmosphere. We got a cool assortment of gifts, of which my two favorites are the dragonfly cookie cutter Lisa got us and the tray with the Casa Cthulhu title and picture that Rebecca made for us. Very cool indeed!

I took a whole bunch of pictures. It will take me a while to get them up (since I'm busy with TA stuff this week) but I should have them up by the end of the week, I hope! I also got two videos of Adam playing and singing. The sound quality is good and the picture quality is generally good, despite the weird camera angles from me playing around and not thinking logically about it. But they're still pretty cool. Take up tons of space, though!

So then Sunday, we crawled out of bed about the crack of noon. Scotty had crashed at our place, and the three of us met Keira over at Bob Evans for "breakfast". Then all four of us came back here and watched Galaxy Quest which Jim and I hadn't seen in ages and Keira hadn't ever seen before. This was fun. Then Keira went back to her place, and Scotty headed back down to Columbus.

In the evening, we went over to Doug's for his housewarming, which was an African style dinner. He just got back recently from a research trip to Namibia. There were two adorable kittens in the house, who had been rescued at a young age from a crack house. They were so very cute. Dinner was very good and a lot of fun. The house was too hot, so we ate outside, sitting on the lawn. African-style dining means eating with your right hand out of communal dishes. It was great fun. We got some weird looks from passersby, of course. Jim had to be the one to start, being the oldest male there.

Plus, Doug's place is a nice walk from our place, so we even got some exercise in the bargain!

It was indeed an awesome weekend.
