(no subject)
Thank you for all the comments yesterday. Sorry I didn't do individual replies. It was insane around here. We had the fire department coming every hour to check for hot spots. They had to turn off the electric to our neighbors apartment and we had people in and out of ours all day using our electrical outlets. I feel so bad for my neighbor. She is a single mom and just adopted a baby about 6 months ago. She basically lost everything. What wasn't hit by the fire has so much smoke/water damage it is being trashed. They are sending some things to a restoration place to see if they can help. We have been trying to help her out as much as possible. With the fire department, insurance agents (hers and the apartments), ATF agents it's been a zoo. I will say it's been a nice view to have the fire department around!!! Those boys are hot!!!
It was such on odd feeling to one minute think you lost everything and then the next second finding out it was someone else. I was so happy to find out it wasn't our apartment and then our neighbor is standing there crying because she lost everything. We are lucky someone saw the fire and reported it so early. It coudl easly have spread to our apartment. The fire department gave us a big speech on how to keep closet door and bedroom doors closed at all times because it slows down the fire. They also said anything that is not in use needs to be unplugged. They said a lot of fires start because something shorts out. They even suggest unplugging TV's when they are not on.
In other news, I'm a bad wife and going on a trip without my husband again!! I swear I don't plan things this way!!!! My aunt is planning a surprise trip to Vegas for my mom. My mom is not a surprise person, or a trip person. This should be interesting. Anyway, Several of my aunts, uncles and cousins are going. We were invited but Brian has to work. He said he didn't mind if I went since the trip is for my mom and it's all my family going. I feel terrible going without him!!!! It's just a quick trip, Sept 30-Oct 2. We will only have 1 full day there. I would love to see a show while we are there.I need to find out how far in advance I need to purchase tickets. The are staying at the Golden Nugget. It's not my first choice but it's a free trip for me so I'm not complaining!!! I've never been to Vegas so I'm a little excited. The bad part is I have to be careful and not tell my mom.
The house is coming along finally. It' sounding like we should close on Sept 5, two more weeks!! They are working on the electrical, plumbing, heat and a/c today. They stained the hardwood floor on Tuesday. All they have left to do is carpet on Monday. Besides minor touch ups we should be about done!! I'm meeting a landscape company today to get an estimate for sod. I'm soooo ready to move!!!
The kids are requesting lunch. Once I get Nathan down I will check up with everyone.
