(no subject)
So I was in bed by 1am, which is an hour and a half past when I thought I was going to pass out from exhaustion so it's better than it sounds. I ended up writing all day and not sleeping and I was trying to stay up to see the Yuletide archive open, but then realised that I was literally too tired to read my story when it opened anyway so I went to bed. Which meant I was up this morning before nine a.m. for the first time since...probably since I was a kid.
I actually dreamed about Yuletide, only instead of stories we got food. I got a serving of chicken and potatoes, which was so good, and then I also got a serving of some kind of fruit crumble, which was awesome in a different way. Of course, I only receive one story for Yuletide so the crumble was clearly a metaphor for the rest of the archive, but lo and behold! I wake up this morning and there are two stories in the archive for me, for the first time!
I swear, you guys, Yuletide never ceases to amaze me not only with the amazing things it produces, but with how I always somehow get exactly what I wanted, even when navigating my requests to figure out what I'm actually getting at is probably a lot like trying to decipher an encoded flight manual. In a foreign language. Backwards.
Story the first: pour a little sugar on it
Which is Archie Comics fandom, in which I basically asked for any story that made them feel like real, modern teenagers. What I got is a Jughead/Reggie - no, don't go anywhere - which is seriously exactly the story I was looking for. They're all teenagers and they're not all sweetness and light, they're temperamental and conflicted and awesome. And it's just...yes. SO good. Thank you!!!
And then as a bonus, story the second: Light a Candle for the Kids
Which is motherfucking Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, in which I asked for a depiction of life during the Five Years. Seriously, this is stellar and so creative and thoughful in its approach to the world. [Even my mom thinks it's awesome I got something in this fandom.] Thank you!!!
