Officiant: *is dressed all nice and is holding a vase with two roses* *smiles at them* I want to welcome you all to Ianto and Jack's special day -

Jack: *mouths 'special day?' at Ianto with an 'are we in kindergarten' look* *is nervous*

Officiant: - and what a day it is. I think this is the clearest it's been here in January for years. Anyway, we're going to do something a little differently today, at Jack's request, in honor of the unique relationship he shares with Ianto. *smiles at Jack* You know, I spent some time thinking about what you told me about the two of you, and I found a blessing that I think would be most appropriate.

'Now we feel no rain, for each of us will be shelter to the other.
Now we feel no cold, for each of us will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no loneliness, for each of us will be a companion to the other.
We are two bodies, but there is one life before us and one home.
When evening falls, I'll look up and there you will be.

Though I had not had a chance to meet Ianto until today, I had a very strong feeling that these two are very like those mentioned in the blessing. They are one another's shelter and warmth. And now that I've seen them together, I believe it. Jack, Ianto, the paths you walked before you met were lonely and so full of hardships, and now you face one single road, wide enough for two to walk hand in hand.

*turns to Jack* Jack. Please face Ianto and hold his hands, palms up, so you see the gift that they are to you.

Jack: *does so, rubbing his thumbs lightly against Ianto's*

Officiant: These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief fill you. These are the hands that will give you support and celebrate with you in your accomplishments.

Jack: *kisses Ianto's palms lightly*

Officiant: Ianto, please hold Jack's hands, palms up, where you may see the gift that they are to you. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. They are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick or console you when you are grieving. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will give you support as he encourages you to fulfill your dreams. Together, everything you wish for can be realized.

Officiant: Jack, Ianto. May I remind you that saying your vows are one thing but nothing is more challenging than living them day-by-day. What you promise today must be renewed tomorrow and each day that stretches out before you. Will you now please turn and face each other and hold hands, looking at each other.

Jack, please repeat after me: 'In the presence of God and our family and friends, I, Jack, choose you Ianto, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, to love and to cherish, and to be faithful to you alone. This is my solemn vow.'

Jack: *repeats it while she's speaking, trembling a little*

Officiant: Now, Ianto, please repeat after me: 'In the presence of God and our family and friends, I, Ianto, choose you, Jack, to be my life partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, to love and to cherish, and to be faithful to you alone. This is my solemn vow.'

Officiant: I know it is customary to exchange rings, but what is more important in a ceremony like this is the sentiment that accompanies it.

Jack: *quietly* Besides, we already have rings.

Officiant: And yes, they already have rings. So we'll just rush through that bit. Jack, repeat after me please. 'I gave you this ring, that you may wear it as a symbol of the vows we have made this day'.

Jack: *meets Ianto's eyes and repeats, voice barely trembling at all* Ianto. I gave you this ring, that you may wear it as a symbol of the vows we have made this day.

Officiant: 'I pledge you my love, my respect, my laughter and my tears. With all that I am, I honor you.'

Jack: I pledge my love, my respect, my laughter and my tears. With all that I am.. and all that I will ever be, I honor and love you. *smiles*

Officiant: *turns to Ianto* Ianto, please repeat after me. 'I gave you this ring, that you may wear it as a symbol of the vows we have made this day.'

*sniffs and takes a moment to blow his nose first* Sorry. Had to do that so I could speak. *blushes and takes Jack's hands again* I gave you this ring, that you may wear it as a symbol of the vows we have made this day.

*laughs a little and dabs at Ianto's tears with his handkerchief*

Officiant: 'I pledge you my love, my respect, my laughter and my tears. With all that I am, I honor you.'

Officiant: *sets the vase aside and hands the roses to Jack and Ianto* A single red rose always means "I love you".
Your gift to each other has been your wedding rings - which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect; and a public showing of your commitment to each other. Now for your first gift as partners I want you to give each other the rose you hold.

Jack: *gives Ianto his rose and smiles a bit nervously*

Officiant: Jack and Ianto, I would ask that wherever you make your home in the future - whether it be a large and elegant home, or a small and graceful one - that you both pick one very special location in your home for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion of your marriage, you both may take a rose to that special spot in your home, both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love.

And try to remember this: In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It might be difficult some time to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you"; "I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find these words to express what you really feel, Go to that spot that you both have selected and there leave a rose. That rose placed in that special location can say what matters most of all. The rose you place there will say the words: "I still love you." The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today.

Jack and Ianto, if there is anything you remember of this marriage ceremony, remember this, it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure.

Jack: *fails at staying butch and totally sniffles*

Therefore in the honesty and sincerity of what you have said and done here today and by the power vested in me, it is my honor and delight to declare you married and partners in life and for life. You may seal your vows with a kiss.

Jack: *is totally wondering how far he can interpret 'kiss'* *pulls Ianto close and kisses him deeply, sliding his arms around his waist*

Ten: *leans over and whispers to Nine* There was no "If anyone has a reason why these two should not be married...". That might've been fun.

Jack: *pouts!* *is distracted by papers being shoved in his face and finds a pen somewhere to sign them with* *signs it Jack Harkness-Jones*

Nine: Yeah, but that's just not fair, is it? Seems to me Ianto should at least have a fighting chance. *nods sagely* I like him. He hung up my coat.

Ten: Yeah...and he's hot. You know, if you notice that sort of thing.

Ianto: *smiles a little and signs it Ianto David Harkness-Jones.
