Running again feels really good. That layoff after surgery did a number on me for damn sure. I am having soreness in strange places - lateral thigh soreness in my upper right thigh, sorta between the thigh muscle and the frontal glute. Not painful, just a strange place to have soreness. Soreness for me usually comes in my calves or sometimes feet. So I guess I gotta keep the mileage low until I work through this issue.
I've been running 3-4 miles five days a week with two total rest days on (usually) Mondays and Thursdays. If I have to much soreness I cut it off the run at 2 miles, which I've done a couple of times.
So I guess for now that's gonna be my entire month of December. Easy, short runs to work out the kinks. Hopefully I'll be ready to level up by January. It would be a great way to start the new year.
I did sign up for my two races next year. I claimed my marathon deferral for the fall of 2024 and I'm going to the Monument 10K again this year. I should get a better wave group and should have a better shot at my goals - sub 45, but I think I can go sub 44 if I have a good stretch of training. I'm still holding out hope for a spring marathon and I'll have a shot at it if training goes well. But I'm not going to push or rush anything.
