Real and MAME

I went to lunch with Matt & Duncan, and Matt’s friend. Good Indian food. I like those guys. I need to hang out with people more, I think.

Rumor was that Al Gore was in the Real building while I was there. Interesting.

Duncan told me about a media player that he thought I might be able to help with. It would be fun to write a good cross platform media player. I don’t much care for XMMS, really. It makes me cranky. Plus it doesn’t play anything on my system. Of course, nothing really plays on my system. esd for alsa sometimes works, but not always, much to the chagrin of hannahadams. Gaim should make noises whenever people send me messages, not just when esd isn’t flaking out. Grr.

On the walk back from lunch, Matt, Duncan and I talked about MAME and building an arcade machine with quarter slot and everything.

I stopped in to the Drinkmore and talked with Scott about putting such a beast in his shop. He sounded excited about it. I went home and looked up how to do something like this. I ran into Scott Shumate’s site, which pretty much lays it all out on the table.

Any of you arcade game geeks interested in going in on a project like this?

helix, real, mame, al gore, swn, media player
