But God won't answer me....

I have been running away lately. You know, like we all do at some point. We know God wants more from us and gosh darn it, we're comfortable - so go away. I start slowly walking at a farther distance, and when He comes close, I jog a little farther... then when He calls to me and I innocently pretend I just can't hear him... sorry! too far! I think we as humans often forget the variety of tools we have as believers. When we bring things in prayer and get frustrated with a lack of "results". So here are my random thoughts. 1. Make sure your focus is correct 90% of the time this is my biggest problem. Why is it so important for daily time with God? Because we need to retrain our brains to his truth! 2. Seek advice. Having another believer share their thoughts and perspective can be refreshing, insightful, and helpful. 3. Keep praying. You don't want to pray for a specific response from God merely that he bring closure, do His will and bring peace to whatever you face. 4. Pray for conviction - this is a dangerous and effective prayer. I think God will always answer yes I'll challenge you.

Now this next part is not always %100 true but it is a thought that has been floating around inside my head. I think fear is a good indicator. If you fear the answer might be yes or no it might be a good sign because I think God wants to show his power through us. God wants us to put faith in who he is, and forget the pain and fear and step up to the plate. Obviously this is not true all the time. I think we can fear death, pain, sickness, loved ones getting hurt and this is not what God wants but these are parts of our broken world.

I think the holy spirit can also resonate truth and provide direction. But it can be hard to tell sometimes especially in a incorrect focus.

I'm rambling on and on now so I'll shut up :p

Whoohoo! Thank you SO much for commenting! I think I agree with everything you said. I have been thinking more about the #2 especially -- I think often times I forget to do this, or don't put enough weight on it. And I completely agree with #1 -- which is what got me started on this all in the first place. We have to have truth and counsel to counteract how easy emotions can be manipulated. You weren't rambling! Thanks for your insight! :)
