Well, last year I did a similar post which correctly predicted success for The Kooks, Orson and Boy Kill Boy, along with some slightly less succesful tips like Duels, and one or 2 total flops. I usually get a few big ones right, like Keane and Franz Ferdinand. So, even if its no intrest to anybody but me in 12 months time this is my new acts tips for the top in 2007.
Most songs can be downloaded from
http://hype.non-standard.net/popular or you can listen if you want on the myspace links!!
*MIKA - There isnt even any doubt about this one, this guy is going to be huge. A bit of a solo cross between Freddy Mercury and the Scisor Scisters. Some brilliant pop songs. New single "Grace Kelly" is amazing.
http://www.myspace.com/mikamyspace *Jack Penate - Again im pretty confident about this guy, his debut single is going for huge money on E Bay, its called Second, Minute or Hour and was one of the tracks of 2006. The fact he describes his style as Alternative / Soul / Rockabilly says most of it! Rockabilly!!! If you get a chance listen to the single on his myspace.
http://www.myspace.com/jackpenate *The View - The Scots version of the Arctic Monkeys, in the fact they have built a massive, fanatical fanbase. I dont think they will have the instant success of the monkeys although it is another great debut album. Its out this month, and the single Same Jeans is the best of 2007 so far. Although my next pick will take that crown away.
http://www.myspace.com/dryburgh ***Little Man Tate - Probably my all time fave band. This year will be make or break for them. Sexy In Latin is the new single and is probably one of the best songs ever written. Although previous single House Party at Boothys pushes it close. They again have a massive, fanatical online fanbase, and are just starting to break as we speak. Single "Sexy in Latin" is out Jan 22nd, with the album a week later!! A must purchase for one and all!

http://www.myspace.com/thefrayforum The others im picking but cant be bothered to write about are:

http://www.myspace.com/thewombatsukYeti -
http://www.myspace.com/yetiintelligence And finally The Hoosiers and The Twang, but I dont have links for them yet! Myspace is playing up now!
The Horrors will also be big, but i dont like them. The Good, The Bad and The Queen could do it as well, but I havent really heard much from them. Just a lot of hype. Jamie T and Plan B are not my cup of tea, but have so much hype they have no choice but to have some success.
Bands from the last year or so who might break in to the mainstream could be Milburn, Bromheads Jacket, The Boyfriends, The Holloways, Duke Special, The Shins and The Decemberists.
New albums from The Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Hard-Fi, The Cribs, Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco means it should be a good year for music.
Pull Tiger Tail, Once a Thief, The On Offs, The Jakpot and The More Assured are my hopefuls, but im not sure they will have success this year, maybe in 2008.
