Had our first roleplaying Monday evening in
Westeros at the
Sandbaggers Game Club. Before we began play I had Robert and Adam, who play siblings and are both knights and are fairly matched, play out a sword battle in their armor. After two rounds; one had one wound, and three injuries, the other two wounds, and three injuries. The next one to strike would have killed the other. Combat between evenly matched opponents is deadly and the one who strikes first is most likely to triumph. As it should be.
There was no actual combat during the rp session, but there was a lot of intrigue. Connie plays the 17 year old sister of Robert and Adam's characters. They are a Major House (House Glastone) of the North, Banner to House Stark. Their House has suffered misfortune of late and is fiscally week, but of high status. Most of the intrigue has been about finding a suitable match for Connie's character. She doesn't want to marry out of duty, only for love. What will happen? Who knows.
Kyle plays the House steward (an older character) and is charged with finding investments to replenish the House coffers. His character is not suited for combat. He made the mistake of showing coin in front of many common folk in a strange city (one had bad intentions). He was followed and accosted at knife point and told to drop his purse and live, or resist and die. In the end he had to burn a Destiny point to keep his coin and life. A very heavy price to pay when one is old in SIFRP.
