First, your style is flawless; the imagery is gorgeous, the vocabulary is contextually precise, and the plot transitions are both engaging and lovely. I especially enjoyed the following:
“Jane.” Maura’s voice held an edge, undercutting the din surrounding them and unmistakably concerned.
That edge, and then the undercutting... oh. Superb. I appreciated that you did not write Maura as an overbearing, cutesy woman; she coaxes Jane gently rather than bombarding her into anything.
The cracks that had gradually been appearing in Jane’s composure opened a little wider, and she wavered as she clambered to her feet. “Maur, please.”
“I shouldn’t have looked.”
Jane... She tries so hard, and sometimes she succeeds. In those moments when she does break open - whether she intends to or not - I can't help but love her.
Of course, she will never be anywhere near on par with Dr. Isles, but I suppose I can spare a shred of care for Jane.
Thanks for sharing!

I think for all her google-talk and foot in mouth moments, Maura is the one person Jane would allow to be there when the cracks appeared and probably the one person who would be able to deal with those cracks without pushing Jane onto the defensive. They just share an honesty that you don't see them sharing with any of the other characters on the show.

Aww, I think I'm in a minority of one in being more of a Jane fan-girl! Maura's adorable but Jane just cracks me up. She's such a mess of contradictions and there's this lovely vulnerability underneath all the tom-boy badass posturing. Plus: amazing legs ;-)

Are you saying Maura doesn't have great legs? I'll see your legs and raise you(r eyes) breasts.

The VOICE, however... I will concede to that.
This show will continue to rank very high on my favorites list as long as it continues to contain explosive chemistry between two supposedly straight women.
... and, now I have just embarrassed myself and intend to spend the rest of my Saturday afternoon convincing myself that I do indeed have things to do other than talk about fandoms.

I can't help my flawed methodology. Every time I try to objectively assess the relative benefits of Dr Isles' legs, I get distracted by Det. Rizzoli's which leads to some very skewed data (and possibly proves my point. I petition to dismiss your appeal.)
Glad we're agreed on the voice though. I'm not sure a voice like that should be legal.

LOL. I am way past the point of caring. But then, I always have been a geek.

LOL. Trust me when I say, you never ever want to see my legs!
I may have to do some research, hang on a tick...(fires up various clips from Born to Run and trips into Money for Nothing just for the hell of it...) actually, Doctor Isles does have a lovely pair of pins on her also! However, I will contend that Det. Rizzoli's legs are still the finer specimen based on the fact that the opening scenes of Boston Strangler do weird things to my tummy... Plus, Harmon has that voice... ohmigod, that voice ( ... )
