soo, the other day i found this poem that kayla had written for a project last year and it gave me total shivers. she was inspired by twloha, and it goes like this:
to write love
love will keep me alive,
even when i’d rather be dead.
i don’t have faith,
but i believe;
broken, shadowed,
in love.
in its abilities to build a person up
and to tear them down in a single motion,
to slice clean through the skin of
a heart or a wrist,
to heal or to hurt,
to bleed, for better or worse.
if i could say anything,
it would be not to give up,
because failing isn’t falling down,
it’s staying down.
thank you.
and so, with her permission, i took my friend (and part-time lover, except not exactly) jamie and we made it into a song. now, this is recorded on a shitty mic on windows sound recorder *eye roll* and it's also me singing after like 4 hours of writing and experimenting and whatnot, so the vocals are kind of shady in points. and my band is definitely called cats in the windowsill, so shut up. (my other catmates are camping, so i may re-do this with nifty harmonies and possibly a second guitar). but that's not the point! the point is i wrote this melody, and kayla wrote these words and together we did something, and it's something solid that i can hear, and i am very proud. so, if you want, you can have a listen, hopefully this crazy little imeem thing works :)
music,
love and whatnot,
