We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day...My husband, Richard, and I went to our daughter's home for dinner. Had a wonderful meal and got to meet with friends and play with the grand kids. Alexander always seems happy to see us...lots of hugs and kisses. Amanda was not having a good day. She clung to mommy and would have nothing to do with any of us. Just as we were about to leave, she crawled up onto the couch and snuggled between me and a friend. She looked at me and gave me a big smile. I did manage to give her a kiss on the forehead and get in a hug. She seemed quite happy. Earlier, as dinner was about to be served, she had been placed in the highchair and promptly fell asleep. She snored throughout dinner. Toward the end, she woke up and had some dinner. After we arrived, Alexander was so excited to show us his Indian vest and an Indian feathered headband he had made in Kindergarten. He also had made a Pilgrim hat and collar. He has been very busy in his Kindergarten class. He sang a Thanksgiving song for me. With hand movements. Robin and I then sang a Thanksgiving song that I used to sing to her and her brother when they were young. I'm surprised she still remembered it. There was a big ol' turkey...so moist and tasty. All the "fix in's," and three kinds of pie. Wine flowed and a good time was had by all. (burrrpppp, pat, pat)

A week ago last Wednesday, Richard had a Dr's appt. The results of his latest "scan" were discussed. It showed absolutely no signs of cancer cells and/or tumors. GREAT NEWS!!! We later made a donation to the American Cancer Society in thanksgiving. Richard has been cancer free for eight years now. It is such a relief for the scan to come back negative.

That Friday was a first for me. I went to the commissary and went in with Richard. For the first two years after my accident, we had a "care giver" come to the house to give me a bed bath, wash my hair and wash and lotion my feet. She was hired for two hours a week, on Fridays. While she was taking care of me, Richard would make the trip to the commissary and do the weekly shopping. He refuses to leave me along in the house, so we needed someone to babysit me. Thus the caregiver. They would also dust mop the house and scrub out sinks. Welllll....I'm getting better now. I can shower on my own. Richard still insists He wash my hair at the kitchen sink. He says I do not have the balance to allow me to wash my hair in the shower. But, I think that time is coming. So, what do we do with me on shopping days? Usually, I sit in the car and read while he shops. But, it's getting cold now and I decided I was strong enough to go with him. So, last Friday, in I went. Did pretty good...only had to sit and rest once. Since it was the week before Thanksgiving, it was really crowded. We spent three times the usual amount of money. Every time we passed a display, or rounded a corner, I'd exclaime: "Oh,Oh, I haven't had that for three years," or "I've been thinking about that." And into the cart it would go. Yogurt, croissants, beef stick, beef jerkey, etc, etc, etc. Today is Friday again...and I was a good girl. Not one whim buy. Much to Richard's relief.

On Sunday, our son Christopher and his wife Sarah came to visit with us. Had a nice afternoon chit chat. Sarah brought me two books I might enjoy. She knows I enjoy historical novels. She brought a book about Mary Boleyn (oldeer sister of Ann Boleyn) a mistress of Henry the VIII. And a book about Lucretia Borgia. I had been reading a book about the Battle of Gettysburg, but had to interupt it to start book #6 in the Outlander series. It was published about two months ago and has been #1 on the NY Times best sellers list. "A Breath of Snow and Ashes." I have been on the waiting list for this book since it was published...#21. It came available and I picked it up at the library. It was a two week borrow, so I had to put the Gettysburg book aside and start the new one. It's 1,000 pages and I am a slow reader. So, now, I have lots of good books to read.

Last Friday was Alexander's sixth birthday. His party was on Saturday. Two functions on the same day. I decided on Alexander's birthday, but Richard said we could attend both. So we went to the DAR meeting/luncheon from 11:00 until we cut out a little early, at 1:15 and headed for Olympia and the party. We made it at the start time. It was a lot of fun...he was so excited. Lots of people. Lots of kids and cousins. A delicious chocolate cake with chololate icing. And six little blue candles. We all sang Happy Birthday and he blew them out.

Next entry, I won't wait so long. This one was confusing enough.
