Maestro Tim Hankewich and the cast and crew of Orchestra Iowa have given a present to the communities of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, one that we all needed.
The floods of 2008 have left the cities of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City physically decimated, but our spirits are not broken. With all of the hard work we've put in to rebuild, we could all use a break to remind us of what the season is all about.
At the Holiday Pops Concert, a Homecoming, there is something for everyone. All of the holy days are represented, as well as a nod of the head to Old Saint Nick. My spirit was renewed as I sat in Sinclair Auditorium and thought about past concerts and future events. I realized that this holiday season may be difficult, but by standing strong as a community, with a sense of unity, we can get through this.
