It's been quite a while since I went to the pretty girls make graves concert, and I've completly missed the whole concert experience. Last sunday, I went to see Streetlight Manifesto @ the bottom lounge, with jarrett and chris. The first opening band was called 'something' de los papa, an amazing local spanish ska band. Two other bands followed and weren't as good, but streetlight was amazing, and it was one of the greatest experiences ever. I was 1 person away from the stage, and mike soprano leaned off the stage and gave me a high five during a song. Came out completely soaked, and got a streetlight shirt.
Last night, I went to the Catch 22, Rx Bandits and Reel Big Fish show with tom q and andy. That was insane. First time going to the rave, didn't realize it'd be so big. The place had atleast 3 stages, and it was packed. We saw a local chicago band that was playing right when we got there on a smaller stage, and they were probably the best local band around. Watched catch 22 from the upstairs balcony cause I hadn't figured out that there were staircases on the far sides to get down to the main floor. Catch was pretty good, but I was a little upset they didn't do a few songs I wanted to hear. RX played after catch, and they were simply amazing. Although they're only left with a trumpet and a trombone, they had a pretty kick ass set, considering I was only expecting them to play songs off of resignation. They did one of my favorite songs, consequential apathy, and the crowd went nuts. Relaxed a bit after rx played, lucky boys confusion was on, but I don't listen to em, so we went and got shirts, and sat to cool down. I got a cool reel big fish shirt that says "HOT GIRL ON GRILL ACTION". Lucky ended their set, and we went to find spots for rbf. Waiting anxiously for them to come on, I told tom and andy that we would have to push our way to the front no matter what. Soon they came out, and at the middle of the first song they did, which was the dateless loosers, i was already 2 people away from the stage. They put on a fucking awsome show. Aaron has the coolest hair and guitar gear ever. Tyler Jones, the trumpet player, was the funniest guy ever. He took down half a bottle of Jack's or some hard liquor, and kept playing. At the end I got a pick thrown out by aaron which fucking rocked, and we soon came home from milwaukee.
Fun times, and hopefully Modest Mouse will rock on the 12th. Peace-
