Here's a little journal of my Saturday/Sunday excursion to VT for my film job...

After a substatntial night of drinking, I was (thankfully) woken up by Bob at 10:30, so i threw whatever shit I could grab, stepped over the bodies passed out in my room (oh boy, what a good night friday was), and took off for Brookline to meet up with Stovalli and Rick. I met up with them around 11:15, and Ricks car is jammed full of video equipment. I won't get into details, but lets just say we had 5 $3,000 cameras, amongst a plethora of other extremely expensive toys (upwards of $25 grand). After my erection subsided (haha) we hopped in the car. Me, having never been to Burlington VT, was expecting an hour and a half car ride MAX. Boy, was I wrong. I looked at Stovalli's mapquest directions and saw that we we're to be on rt. 89 for 150 miles! "Fuck" I say to myself, and sit back and prepare my body for the 3 and a half hour trip.

We made a pit stop at a gas station in Buttfuck NH for fuel and subs. Since Comedy Central was footing the bill for all of our expenses, I ate a massive cheesesteak for lunch. Mmmmmm, cheesesteaks. You gotta love these little redneck towns, where everything smells like horse shit and old guys walk around with trucker hats displaying the names of gun companies. I had a bit of a chuckle as we hopped back in the car.

We arrived at the Monkey Bar in Wanooski VT (right next to Burlington) around 330, unloaded the car, and began putting together tripods, dollys, lights, everything we needed for the shoot. We met Nate Brady Crain, the comedian who we were filming. He was a hilarious guy, full of energy and keeping everybody on their toes. The bar was really amazing, a Havard-Square style bohemian joint, amazing. We finished setting up at about 5, then took off for downtown Burlington for some food and random play.

I was absolutely floored by Burlington. It was an urban area, but not trashy, like most of Boston is. We stopped in this burger joint/rock club for some kick-ass cheeseburgers, then walked around the city for a bit. We met up with our other filmer, Pat, and headed back to the monkey bar.

This is where shit started getting a tad stressful. For the DVD, Nate wanted interviews with people outside the bar before the show started, even though we had alot of work still to do. But we did get some comic relief when Nate himself came out for a mock interview... shit, that guy is hilarious.

After labeling the tapes, white balancing the cameras, and figuring out the battery situation, the show started. Let me tell you, I was impressed with myself for some of the shots I got ;-). Nate himself was unbelievable... when this DVD hits stores, pick up a copy, you will shit your pants laughing. However, filming became a bit of a task... you see, there was a 4000-watt light rig used to light the stage, and they can get extremely hot. Stovalli saved my life with a refreshing cold bottle of budweiser, all on Comedy Central's tab. The show finished, we had a couple more drinks, packed up all of our equipment, and took off.

Not knowing what to do afterwards, we walked down the street to watch Pat's friends band play at some venue. We figured they would be playing a landsdowne-style venue... boy were we fucking wrong. We walked into the biggest redneck bar I've ever seen. It smelled like horse shit, and there was some nasty bitch on the phone going "YEA I DONT BACK DOWN FROM SHIT I KICKED THAT GIRLS FUCKING ASS!" After wetting ourselves laughing, we watched the band play a few songs (we were the only 4 people actually watching, poor bastards). When we decided we were too hungry to go on, we headed back into downtown Burlington for some grub. It was me and Rick in one car, and Pat and Stovalli in another car... or so we thought. When we met up with Rick, and here's our conversation...
Rick: "Is Stovalli with you?"
Me: "No, he's supposed to be with you"
Rick: "But I thought.... FUCK! WE FORGOT STOVALLI!!!"

Rick booked it back to Wanooski to get Stovalli, and we all met up again at a little deli joint for food. On the walk back to Pat's place, we tried mingling with some rather gorgeous women, but us being trashy Boston kids, we were very unsuccessful. Back at Pat's place we relaxed with a 30-rack and some good TV before passing out around 3 or 4.

We woke up this morning around 7ish and hopped right in the car and headed back to Boston (if we didnt get the equipment back to the school by noon the fines would have been HUGE)... the ride back was pretty uneventfull, except a group of wiggers that I inadvertently insulted (I spaced out staring at one of the kids cars saying "wow, what a piece of shit"). We got back to Boston around 11, and here I am now, typing this long thing that probably none of you will read haha. We had such an amazing time, our next major project is in the spring where we get to travel for free to Washington DC... details later.
