IT WAS AN ACCIDENT.

Dec 17, 2011 02:50

'I'm sorry, sire, there's nothing that can be done. The damage is too severe.'

The High King stared out the window, hardly listening to what his councilor had to say. His mind had been going over the discussion he had had earlier that day, distracting him everywhere he went. He had tried ignoring it, telling himself that what was done was done, but it always came back to the same thing.

It was a foolish accident, one that should have never been made. As soon as he was able he retired from the council room, returning to his chambers. Heavy were his steps as he approached his bed where, carefully laid out, was Susan's favourite gown. There was a long tear running right down the front - and it wasn't a clean, tidy tear, either. There was a muddy stain at the bottom that, if you looked at it carefully, made out a footprint.

This would not end well.
