I've been thinking about the dozy teacher in Sudan that got put in clink for allowing the school children to call a teddy bear Mohammed. Of course, the locals are going spare, saying that she should have been executed etc, and the local papers are saying its all part of a Western plot to attack Islam, yada yada.
What's not being discussed, I've noticed, is that there was some considerable surprise by the Sudanese at her managing to get the children to vote on what to call the teddy bear. The issue of democracy doesn't go down too well in non secular Islamic countries, and if the children hadn't been allowed to vote, none of this would have happened. It's a perfect example of what happens when you try and mix choice and democracy with Islamic law. Once again, children show wisdom within their innocence.
Hopefully, that's offended a bunch of people - the sort of people who claim to be fervently religious, but don't have enough faith to overcome a few minor knocks, like calling a teddy bear after a paedophile warmonger. Hahaha!
