The joy of joining PuGs or: How I survived the ITF last night
I never mind joining PuG`s and I never did with TF`s. But this time my experience was kinda... unsatisfying.
I wanted to waste time and my mind/psi dominator to gain some xp so I went to Cimerora and asked for an ITF. I was lucky and got invited. After all we had a nice mixed team of Heroes and Villains. I switched to my lvl 50 fire/kin because I feel better on an ITF with some controls on it even without a Tank. All went fine during the first two mishes though it was obvious the most of us had never done an ITF before, but okay.
Now the third mish. One of the MM`s stopped playing somehow. After 20 minutes:
Leader: XXX, get your ass over here and get your pets!!!
MM: sorry, have to eat!
We: ……
Besides the fact that we’re on a TF and lots of work to do, he’d could given a hint that he’ll be afk.
After several deaths and more time without help form the absent MM, the leader got more pissy and yelled at him to get the pets and help his mates.
MM: He, I’m a nine year old kid!
(since when is a kid playing a lvl 50 MM on a 45 month vet acc at 8pm???)
Leader: join the fight or I’ll kick ya.
Okay. We fought slowly our way towards the 5th column base, most of us died frequently thanks to lags or stupidity ,but what was our MM doing? Right, nothing. Meanwhile I turned into the main healer. Though the second MM got dark miasma she barely remembered she could support us with her heal. I hate if people grab a powerset they don’t really use, especially if it’s such an useful powerset like DM.
First team wipe at the Phalanx but we did the AVs nicely. Huh, we actually can act like a team? This made me hope for the last mish.
We entered the beautiful castellum (I love this map!) and people started complaining and discussing how to do it the fastest way, how to sneak the way to Romulus and just to kill him etc. I mentioned the 300 traitors we had to kill anyways so why not just kill what’s in our way and we’re good. Good xp for the lackeys almost gratis but people complained about the time.
Stalker: It will take hours!
Me: We always killed everything and it never lasted more than 2.5 hours.
Stalker: But they’re so many!
Me: that’s the TF.
Ah, did I mention the Leader kicked the lazy MM before we entered the castellum? Keep it in mind.
Stupidity killed our leader in every mob (pls shoot me if I ever roll a spider soldier!!!) and lots of the others but don’t dare to hope our DM MM would have used her Rez. Did I mention I hate people if they don’t know what their powerset is able to do??
So we fought our way bravely to Romy´s place. Since I was aware the most of my teammates were not really sure what they did, I just mentioned to clear the place w/out agro-ing Romy, but our leader said it would be okay, let’s rush in and we’re done. My heart sank to the depth of the Neverlands and I decided: "I’ll try it two times" though I’m not the type who bails, but it was already 2am for me and I needed the sleep badly.
For my surprise we managed it not to agro the 5th column mobs around the square and to take out the Romans nicely so our counter for the traitors was down to 24. No biggie, we can get them after Romy died.
I mentioned we should pull the big man to part him from his Nicti but don’t dare to hope… You’ll get the idea. Team wipe after a couple of seconds. The next try wasn’t better. This made two people to leave the team, the second MM (the one with dark miasma) and one blaster. With five people on the team, just a wanna-be healer (me) and one debuffer (me), no tank just a great spine scrapper (kudos, you did great) and the determined and despaired rest (hate spiders now), we tried it again.
Leader: I´ll invite the MM back (the one he kicked before)
Me: we're on a TF, you can´t invite people.
Leader: I can, I know it!
Me: *sighs*
Leader (after he tried to invite someone): doesn´t work
Me: *checking his badges, 33 month vet, *headdesk**
Finally he decided to take on Romy again after I told him I'm tired.
Me: pull HIM, not the Nicti!
Leader: *silent*
Blaster: *pulls Nictus*
We: *dead*
Me: *thinks* what am I doing here… I wanna go for some sleep.
Leader: Has anybody done this TF before besides me?
People: no
Me: it’s my seventh time now.
People: …..
Leader: Okay, pull HIM!!!
Oh well.
To make it short: we pulled HIM, got him parted from the Nicti and defeated him 4 times. And finally I got a good recipe for my efforts.
