[Around the afternoon, sirens began to sound in Cydonia that quickly followed with a rush of bots and what appeared to be a potential percentage of the city's own defense system into the many area's of the city. [The seconds the robots sound their alarms, Gokudera literally throws himself over Dende, kneeling down on one knee and encompassing his front with his arms.

His eyes narrow and in seconds, without seemingly any preparation, his shields are up and floating around the two of them to deflect any shots, obstructing his and the young alien's view of Tetsurunga.

He can tell that the robots are distracted with their dragon, but he has faith it will be alright, and if it isn't... then at least he can keep its creator safe.]

Dende, we need to get out of here! [The teen appears calm enough as he punches a box on his belt, making a disc appear beneath them that lifts them off the ground.]

[The dragon lets out a yowl as it's hit, but makes no motion to move or fight back. Even with all it's power and intimidating size the Eternal Dragon was not to fight.]

[Dende struggles to see what was going on with his dragon, even though he could see, he knew something bad was happening. He could feel his bond with Tetsurunga breaking as it died]

STOP IT! MAKE THEM STOP! TETSURUNGAAA!! THEY'RE KILLING HIM! THEY'RE KILLING HIM!

[Dende's eyes water and he begins to cry. After all their hard work! He had made the dragon with Gokudera! It was their dragon! It wasn't supposed to die!]

[Tetsurunga took hit after hit, and with one final mighty cry, that is echoed by Dende, the lasers finally hit the dragon in the back bursting through it's chest. The mystical being seems to explode into smoke that rose to the top of the dome. A disembodied bird-like claw fell to the ground, and dissipated into smoke like the rest of the creature. The seven Dragon Balls remained floating in the sky for a moment, then clinked together before falling to ( ... )

[He grinds his teeth and clings to Dende, worried the child will try to run to the Dragon's rescue and end up getting shot. Gokudera won't stand idly by as it is destroyed, but his loyalty goes to Dende's safety first.]

Stay behind me.

[The teen punches another box on his hip and hops down, standing before the shields that separate Dende from the robots. There's a rush of red flames over his left arm as a cannon appears, a mass of metal shaped as a skull over his fist. He growls audibly in the back of his throat and lifts the cannon, aiming a storm and rain blast at the robots circling the Eternal Dragon.]

Eat this, bastards!!

[When Gokudera lets him go, Dende just flops back down on his rear and cries. He had failed. Not only could the dragon not grant their wish, but it had gotten killed. Of course fixing him would be easy, but what good would it do? Dende was too weak to make him strong enough to wish them home]

Gokudera! Be please careful!

[He pulls his knees up to his chest]

Just stay back, and when I'm done, we're going to the apartment, got it?

[He glances behind him to make sure that Dende will listen. Some distant part of him feels guilty for not being compassionate at seeing Dende upset, but he can't afford to let his guard down when he needs to defend them. From the looks of things, the robots want to attack them, next.]

Go figure he'd be pissed at us for trying something like that, but to go this far...

[When the robots aim at them, he can feel a feral grin pull at his lips. He only has this chance once, since his shields are BEHIND him rather than before him. As the robots announce their intent, he rolls, avoiding a few lasers. He's running and throws his dynamite. It rockets up, then is engulfed in the flames from his cannon before striking the targets.

He skids, grabbing Dende and holding him to his chest while his shields fall away and whirl around them.]Dende, listen. We need to go back. I'll draw them away and take them out. Defending you and attack them at once is too much because there ( ... )

[Dende clings tightly to Gokudera as they run, sobbing all the while. It was all his fault, people were going to get hurt and it was all his fault! Mr. Dean was right, all he did was get people hurt. So of course When Gokudera mentions separating to draw them away himself, Dende won't have any of it]

No! No! Gokudera! Th-this i-i-is all m-my fault! I-I don't want you t-to get hurt! I-I don't want people to get hurt anymore b-because of me!!!

Dende-

[His voice is quick, low, clipped, and irritated. He doesn't want to be so impatient with the kid, but now that they are under attack, he has to throw emotion out the window.]

Look at me.

Did you make those Dragon Balls by yourself? No. We worked on it together. We're in this together.

Now, if you stay with me, I will get hurt. If you are hidden, then I can find you if I'm hurt. You are too important to lose. You need to stay hidden, do you understand me?

[He fires a shot between an opening in his shields and the robot dodges it. He hisses, then glances down, grabbing Dende's face and forcing him to look at him]

I'm not asking you, Dende. I'm telling you! I need to hide you so you'll be safe! I will be, too. I promise.

G-Gokudera....

[Dende looks up at Gokudera desperately, tears pouring down his face. He had just woken up... and he was about to go off into a fight. All because Dende had summoned the dragon! Well it looked like Dende didn't have a choice... he had to go. But he didn't want to... his tummy was hurting again...]

P-promise you'll c-come back? I love you Gokudera! I-I d-d-don't want you t-to have t-to go away a-again!

[Gokudera pouts and rubs the tears off Dende's cheeks. For now, it seems the robots haven't gotten a chance to find them. He won't put his shields away though, but they can continue on foot.]

I promise. If anything happens, I'll find you. You're my family, right, and I can count on you as my right hand. Right?

[He holds him as he continues on, darting down the alleys as they make their way to the apartments. When they're close enough, he sets the little Namekian down and kisses the space between his antennae.]

Don't fly. Don't let them find you, and stay hidden. Got it? I'll be back. If you get into any trouble, you can find me on here.

[He points to his communicator]

[Dende clung tightly as they ran through the alleys, his face buried in Gokudera's shirt. He knew he was going to have to let go of his friend soon, so he wanted to be as close to him as he could before hand.

Alas they eventually make it to the apartments, and Dende is forced to separate from his friend. He wasn't expecting the pleasant surprise the teen bestowed on his forehead. Dende looked up at him in shock for a moment, but after a little sniffle and some tear wiping a little smile peeks out. Gokudera really was the best!]

I-I'll be th-the best right hand man ever! I promise if anything happens I'll make sure you're okay!

[He couldn't quite explain why, but he was feeling much braver now!]

Th-the robots aren't as scary as Frieza anyway!

Right!

[His eyes soften for a moment as he looks down at Dende, then he smiles confidently. For his comrade's sake, he'll be strong and he knows that they can overcome this.]

Your job is to find the others and keep them safe until I get back but ONLY when the coast is clear. If you hear anything, stay inside.

[Gokudera pats Dende on the top of his head in his best attempt to be reassuring. He had to come back.]

I promise! I'll keep everybody safe! And if anybody gets hurt I'll heal them! I'll be the best right hand man ever!

[Gokudera nods before he turns around and runs off. It isn't necessary to do so, but turning his back on the child hides the look of pain in his eyes. He doesn't want to leave him behind. What if SAMM was angry at them and would go after him...?

The teen steels himself. He has to provide a big enough distraction and take the entire blame for the dragon. Gokudera's eyes squeeze shut as he chants in his head that it was never Dende's idea. If anyone is going to be punished, it should be him. Not that he'll be taken down that easily...

A cocky grin spreads over his face when he opens his eyes. He'll take down every goddamn robot in his path.]
