[the feed comes on to Viral, looking up at him as he looms over one of the frozen bots. One of the plates had been removed, however much more delicately then his previous robot 'autopsy'. In fact he's not even touching the interior of the thing, just observing it looking rather perplexed ( Read more... )

So far it seems that everything keeps disappearing. There's no reasons behind it yet but one can assume...

[And she's more curious by the fact he knows technology.]

Do you recognize this world in their technology?

Bits and pieces. It's a bit more advanced then the what I'm used to, but all technology must share basic components in order for it to work.

[He sits back from the bot looking frustrated, and runs his clawed hand over his head with a sigh]

Unfortunately, it's not enough to pin down the exact reason for their failure.

[Clawed hands? Yeah, Hermione has seen too many strange creatures to think anything about it.]

Any theories? At this point, I feel guesses is all we can have for not.

[Oh... she's NOT staring at him like he was a freak? Well that's new]

Either the main computer purposefully shut them down or there has been some sort of error. Mechanically there doesn't appear to be anything wrong as far as I can tell.

[Freak? Oh no, she doesn't have a problem with it. Besides, you're smart and you are making her think.]

Considering how SAMM seems to control everything, even the most minuscule of duties, I wouldn't be surprised if he himself shut them down.

But why?

[Viral leans forward on his knees and thinks for a moment, then it hits him]

Energy conservation! After building the new addition to the city, the system was obviously fatigued, and after firing that weapon... but why is it harvesting things now? The machines I can understand. By shutting them down and recalling them it can take their remaining power to recover... but books? household items? That doesn't make any sense... unless it's burning them for fuel? I would imagine that's the most efficient way to go about things but...

[And he catches himself going on a tangent]

Bah, I'm blathering like an old man...

No, no! You're fine, it makes perfect sense!

[And she's rummaging around for her notes. Yes. She has made notes. Clearly, the girl can't stop doing her homework outside of Hogwarts. Good job, Viral. Now she's all interested.]

Assuming that energy conservation is the reason behind the city's shut down, then one can assume that whatever system the machine holds expends an equal amount of energy. You know, the input and output of its sources.

Considering he made all of these things, he can take them back and re-use them somehow? Does that make any sense?

Well, if you take away the energy that the main AI expends to maintain these machines and supply us with food and water, on top of the energy it expends constantly keeping the barrier up... it's putting forth a great amount of power constantly. Add in the robots own individual power cores, and the amount of stored energy they have. By cutting them off alone it the amount of power it saves is exponential, on top of that these things have an inner power source that allows them to run without being plugged into anything...

[He pauses]

Which would probably mean they have a dock were they get recharges... which in the right circumstances could be configured to recall the energy instead...

but what could possibly have the power to supply this place with so much energy?

That's where we meet the road block, we don't know of any technology capable of doing such a thing...

[And she frowned.] The library contained several books about engineering but none of them made much sense. There is so much information on this city missing, like some puzzle lacking all it's pieces.

[Viral chuckles, oh how cute, she was looking up engineering...]

You won't get it unless you start from the ground up. There are some fundamental rules that all technology must follow. The more advanced the technology gets, the more complex it becomes, however it's still just building on the basics.

[Viral sighs, she did have helluva point with that statement]

True. Hopefully the more errors the AI makes, the more it will give us pieces as to it's puzzle.

Although technology isn't exactly my forte, I did my best to research what I could. Most of the reports the city has all ended during a period where the technology was nothing in comparison to what have here.

I don't know how much help I could be but, I am willing to help anyway I can.

My world has some pretty advanced technology, and while I'm not the most technologically savvy when it come's to programing I know the basics, and I know mechanics like the back of my hand.

[He smirks a bit, and pats the bot]

I could teach you some of the basics. I got some nice practice material right here.

I would really appreciate the lesson, though, I don't want to be a bother.

[Viral heaves the bot over his shoulder]

It's no trouble. It will probably help in the long run anyway. Where are you?

The apartment complex. Would you like me to meet you anywhere?
