Understood. I'll be right there.
[And sure enough, about ten minutes later, there'll be a pup jogging towards Sephiroth. He looks better than the other night, and ready for action. Seems things will eventually get back to normal, somehow.]
[The General's all business, busy scoping out the surrounding buildings. He glances over when the pup arrives, giving him a nod. The splashing of the water is nice and loud, a bonus.]
[And that's exactly what Zack does, eyes narrowed as he takes in the area surrounding the park. It's vaguely like the woods in Wutai, now that he thinks about it.]
It'll be too easy to get ambushed in here. Any thinking enemy will use the trees as cover at the same time we do. Even if they don't, it's too open. We'll get swarmed.
And District Two is just way too open. [He palms the back of his neck in thought, looking up at the artificial sky for a moment. What could work...]
The hospital could work as a safe staging area if there's a way to close it off. Piling everyone in one tower and barricading the windows might work, too. [He shakes his head after a moment.] But it's too easy to get trapped in there without supplies. We could try to fortify the cafeteria windows to keep them from breaking, at least.
Nothing's as appealing as I'd like, but we're working with severely limited options.
[But, back to business.]
I'm sure we have some here who have curative powers, or skills in healing and medical care. We'll need to get them together, go over any gaps in our defenses.
We had fewer options in Wutai, General. Just a lot more troops. [All of whom Sephiroth had kept alive. That was just how the General operated.]
There's a kid, Hope Estheim. He can cast healing magic without Materia. [Zack pauses, frowning. He doesn't like this idea...] He can't any older than fifteen. He'd definitely be staying away from the front lines.
Yes, well. The extra men made up for the abysmal conditions.
Ah. I've spoken with young Hope. He seems very earnest. [No way in all hell would Sephiroth even consider the notion. But the boy would definitely be needed, regardless.]
[Zack nods; having the extra manpower really was a help. As for Hope...]
He's a good kid. Knows his way around a fight, but he still has a lot to learn. [They always do, at that age.] If there's anyone else who can heal, I think we should keep them back from the fighting. It's already risky enough for the rest of us, why risk the healers?
For primary defensive strategy, that's idea. But you know as well as I do that things seldom go according to plan. But we'll do what we can with what we have.
The first step is getting everyone divided up as much as we're able. ...although that in itself's liable to be impossible.
Like using the tables in the cafeteria to make barricades. They're not bolted down, I don't think.
[And now he sighs.] Yeah. The people here seem to be pretty isolated from eachother. Getting them to work together, even in small cells, could be tricky.
And I want to keep as many of us together as possible. Have defense teams work in shifts, maybe a small strike force moving through the city clearing out whatever's needed.
Yes, well. We're going to have to step on a few toes, probably, but it beats the alternative.

Look around, tell me what you think.

Then it's a good thing we're wearing boots. [Yes, he knows it's a figure of speech, but still.]

[A grimace, then a chuckle.]
I suppose so, yes. But we've been through it before. And will probably go through it again, before it's all over.
