"I think you know how it happened lover. Apparently it's not so impossible, because here I am in all my evil glory, a thing with a beating heart and a growing soul inside me."
I stared at Darla for a moment, my eyes drifting down to the hands that carefully were placed on her stomach. I might know of a time when if could have happened, but we're both.. dead. How was it possible that two perfectly dead beings could make a life. A life that had a soul and was now growing inside of Darla.
"A soul? It.. the child has a soul?"
"When i said we were a family lover I wasn't just throwing words around. I never just throw words around, you of all beings still walking this earth should know as much."
A family. If there was something growing inside of her..then that word.. "family" had a whole new meaning to me now. I looked away from Darla and back to Dru who didn't exactly seem to be enjoying this right now. Apparently, the soul was rotting Darla from the inside out.. or at least that's how she saw it. That's far from how I saw it right now.
"It’s going to gobble her up. Fill her up and make her sick. Sick just like you Angelus."
I shook my head and turned back to Darla, my face still full of shock.
"How long.." Well, it was obvious how long it had been since it happened. I wanted to know how it was affecting her - how she was affecting it. Plenty of other thoughts ran through my head. Was the child human? And if so.. was it a boy or a girl? The biggest question running through my head was.. how are two vampires able to concieve a child and.. why didn't we know about it before now? You'd think that something like this would have a couple of warning signs here and there.
