One year ago today, I got into Supernatural. And I was planning on doing a thing, but it turns out the whole fandom has a Supernatural birthday today too! :D
( Read more... )
I wasn't into Dean's cocky, smirky side until I met his vulnerable, caring side. He was too pretty, and I just didn't care about what they were doing... I do now, though!
I watched the show from the beginning as I was a Jensen Ackles fan since his DOOL days...and then Dark Angel, and Dawson's Creek (which is maybe my first show love). I didn't discover fandom until "monster at the end of this book", where I was like hey, Sam/Dean? is that for real? OMG WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING OUT ON????? It coincided with my Mother dying and was just a perfect thing to distract me and focus on and fandom means alot to me for those reasons. It just became my happy happy place, you know instead of watching tv all day and being sad and thinking that the ladies on The View are my besties. I guess that's why my tattoo is so important to me, it's not just Dean, it's fandom and all the good feels and how new important and wonderful things can come into your life and surprise you.
I am more in love with fandom probably than I am the show. I would give up the show for fanfiction hands down. As long as I didn't have to give up Jensen Ackles's face. That's why I don't angst too much about what's happening on the show, I'm happy just to see the boys interact every week and then let fandom fix it all. I am a fangirl of fangirls, I just think they're wonderful♥
Wow, that's from even before the beginning! Sounds really wonderful. I'm trying to catch up on early Jensen Ackles, some of the movies and series', watched his season of Smallville (seriously, is there anything that guy did that didn't involve incest?!), and some of the DOOL on youtube - I'd have loved to watch his whole part there.
It's amazing that the show got you into fandom like that! *Awesome*, awesome story!
What's your tattoo? Sounds like a good one to have, I like its meaning to you.
Ooh, tough choice! I prefer fandom to the show, though I'm not sure fandom would stick around without the show, and it's hard sometimes without new things to play with... for inspiration and juice... Also, there's the creators, to me, too. I know it's wank (sorry), but I'm still broken hearted about Jensen and his comment to that bi fan. I mean - it made me cry, it changed my relationship with the show/fandom. So. So yeah, that means a lot to me too... don't mind the politics of the actual show as much - I'd mind if they were awesome, but when they're transphobic or glorify the glorious glory of white guys it's just - eh, show... that sort of thing I mostly laugh about or speculate about with people - bless fandom!
Smallville is the thing I haven't watched, I think being tortured by the last 5 min. of it waiting for SPN was enough for me. BLAH. I've watched little blips of Jensen's parts tho.
I have what I think is the most badass Dean tattoo ever, but of course I'm completely biased.*G*.........http://meesasometimes.livejournal.com/32401.html...........pics there on my journal. It's from TorCon where Jensen signed it and I'm having his signature tattooed on. Yes, I'm crazy and obsessed that way. I feel like you were forewarned tho :P oh wait, I can add a photo to this comment, this is the stuff I always fail at.
though I'm not sure fandom would stick around without the show, STOP IT!!! You're feeding my abandonment. fear. I cannot bear to think of the shelf life of fandom when the show is over. :( I'll be the last fan standing.
but I'm still broken hearted about Jensen and his comment to that bi fan I don't know this comment. I know the general gist of what your saying tho with the show politics and choices, but hooray for fandom.
Tattoo - Hah, that's so cool! The tattoo, and the pictures from conventions! Oh, please, crazy and obsessed? My life is tied to my fandom(/s) in many ways, and it's meaningful and people who say mean things about it shouldn't ever get spanked.
Abandonment - Sorry, sorry sorry sorry, I fear that too... {hug-if-you-want-it}
The comment - he was just :( I'll guess you'd rather not know and drop it.
