dancer devotions

Apr 11, 2007 00:55

I was browsing through the net when I stumbled upon this ballet site for Christian girls. One particular article inspired me a lot, so I decided to post it here. :)

Dancing for the Lord is forgetting about what your classmates, teachers, and your audience are thinking about you, and dancing for an Audience of One. When you dance for Him, it's all about worship...it's not about performing, impressing, or being perfect, it's about bringing Glory to our King. Believe me, when you forget about everything but your Audience of One, your dancing improves tremendously! Everyone can see on your face that you're different. You have passion, joy, and your talent shines. So make a commitment today to dance for the Lord, and Him alone. :)

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." --Galatians 1:10

It also gave out tips that I think would really help me, especially now that we're only a few days (FOUR days, to be exact) away from the show. I think God, in His wonderful ways, led me to that site for a purpose. :)

Tips! :)

Tip #1: Say a prayer as class begins. Dedicate the class to Jesus, and tell Him "this class is all for You". Give it to Him as a gift.

Tip #2: Read your Bible or meditate on a piece of Scripture right before you go to take class.

Tip #3: Sometimes I think we get so caught up in pleasing are teachers that we forget who we are really dancing for. Write on your hand something that reminds you for whom you are dancing . We tend to look at our hands when we’re dancing. So every time we see the reminder, we will remember that we’re dancing for Him and not our teacher.

Tip #4: Keep a journal and write down every prayer God has answered during dance class.

Tip #5: If there's a really hard move, pray that the Holy Spirit will empower your body to do it. Give Him the glory when you do it, by remembering it was Him that enabled you to do it. ---I should really keep this in mind!

Tip #6: Make an effort to show your faith to your fellow dancers. Wear a cross necklace or bracelet to show others that you are giving God all the glory for your dancing.

Tip #7: When you’re driving to class, put on
worship music and focus on God.

Thank you, Lord.
I'll set my heart for dancing on YOU alone. :)
I auditioned for a scholarship at Ballet Philippines yesterday. I hope I get in. :)
[EDIT: april 11] I PASSED! I got accepted as full scholar! yey! :)

Countdown: 4 more days. *breathes in deeply*
