An Umineko no Naku Koro Ni FST
(Yasu-centric)
1. Lali Puna - Faking the Books
Faking the Books
We've been done before
and now we try to forge ourselves
We've been done before
and now we try to forge ourselves
I'll be true again
But until then I fake the books
'Cause everybody knows
This ain't heaven
Until everybody knows
We've been wrong before
There is a lot that we survived
We've been wrong before
There is a lot that we survived
I'll be true again
But until then I fake the books
'Cause everybody knows
This ain't heaven
Until everybody knows
There isn't one Yasu - there are countless kakera, and in those kakera there are often several projections that make up Yasu. Unhappy with herself, she "forges" herself with new personalities, all of which survive different hardships and find different happiness.
2. Mute Math - Noticed
Mutemath
Careful when you open
It's easy to be broken
In the strangest fashion
You start a chain reaction
When you look my way
Something's pounding away
And I wonder if I ever
felt this before
And all this time, oblivious
to what you make so obvious
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
And you are reaching
Something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again
Racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
At least it was never until I noticed
you and your ways
Capture what I've misplaced
In the perfect fashion
Just watch my heart's reaction
This point of view
is nothing that I'm used to, but I
won't close my eyes
'Cause they're on to you
And all this time,
it was staring me blind
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
And you are reaching
Something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again
Racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
At least it was never until I noticed
you
The only time I ever noticed my heart
Was when I noticed you, yeah
The only time I ever noticed my heart
Was when I noticed you, yeah
You, yeah, you, yeah!
And you are reaching
Something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over and again
Racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
'Till I noticed you, yeah
I noticed you, yeah
When I noticed you, yeah
You, yeah
When I noticed you, yeah
I noticed you, yeah
That's the only time I ever noticed my heart before
Yasu had been "happy" before - while the other servants weren't quite her friends, she got along well with Kumasawa, Genji was good to her, and she enjoyed being with the cousins when they visited yearly. But until she became close to Battler she never really felt "love."
3. Asobi Seksu - Thursday
Citrus
On gentle ground
I waited for you
In drops of dew
I wished that were you
With heavy hands
I reached out for you
My skin soaking wet
My eyes searched for you
It seems you lost your way
You've let it all fall apart
Nothing's left here but you
All you do is remind me
Now that we've lost our way
The rest can all fall apart
All I see here is you
All it does is remind me
With sharpened tongue
I cried out for you
And I must refrain
Now that I need you
The autumn wind feels
As if it were you
And swayed through the fields
Where I once held you
It seems you lost your way
You've let it all fall apart
Nothing's left here but you
All you do is remind me
Now that we've lost our way
The rest can all fall apart
All I see here is you
All it does is remind me
Whistle through your window
We act the same as you
Whistle through your window
We act the same as you
When Yasu found out Battler wasn't going to return to the island that first fall, she was still hopeful. She was determined to wait for him on his white horse. Life had just started to fall apart, but all she could see was him in her heart.
4. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn - I want Love
Silent Hill 3 OST
I want a river full of love
I need an ocean full of love
I want a cup that overflows with love
Although it’s not enough to fill my heart
I want a barrel full of love
Although I know it’s not enough to fill my heart
I want a river full of love
But then I know the holes will still remain
I need an ocean full of love
Although I know the holes will still remain
As the year after her first disappointment stretched on, Yasu still loved Battler. She clung to that love, and her projections increased and shifted to try to fill the space that Battler's absence left.
5. echostream - Hole
The Duality of Courage
How can I feel your warmth
How can I dry my eyes
Sunshine kills my distance
Rainfall kills my passion
I am a hole
How can I go over there
How can I see you there
Cannot smell the dirt
Cannot find the courage
This is my way
I lift my head and breathe
But I can't smell a thing
I lift my hand and reach
But I don't feel a thing
This is my cell
This is my way
Cause I am a hole
Eventually, the years piled up without any sign of Battler. Finally, messages from him appeared on the island, but none were for her. Yasu's emptiness threatened to take over her to the point that her own projections had to step in and relieve her. Beatrice became the cell to lock Yasu's feelings inside her mind and forget about them.
6. Mika - Any Other World
Life in Cartoon Motion
In any other world
You could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl
Into broken remnants
Smile like you mean it
And let yourself let go
Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in
I tried to live alone
But lonely is so lonely, alone
So human as I am
I had to give up my defences
So I smiled and tried to mean it
To let myself let go
Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in
Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in [x2]
Say goodbye
In any other world
You could tell the difference
Over time, Yasu's projections stopped feeling the pull of her love for Battler and started reaching out for other relationships. They changed the "world [she] thought she lived in" by basically living in different worlds: Shannon's new world was in love with George, and Kanon's new world was pretending to not be in love with Jessica.
7. Radiohead - Where I End and You Begin.
Hail to the Thief
There's a gap in between
There's a gap where we meet
Where I end and you begin
And I'm sorry for us
The dinosaurs roam the earth
The sky turns green
Where I end and you begin
I am up in the clouds
I am up in the clouds
And I can't and I can't come down
I can watch and cant take part
Where I end and where you start
Where you, you left me alone
You left me alone
X'll mark the place
Like the parting of the waves
Like a house falling in the sea
In the sea
I will eat you alive [x4]
There'll be no more lies [x4]
I will eat you alive [x4]
There'll be no more lies [x4]
I will eat you alive [x4]
There are no more lies [x4]
I will eat you alive [x3]
When Battler finally returns, the problem with living separate lives finally rears its head - she has to finally choose which life she wants to pursue. There's a "gap" in between her own projections to the point that she can't try to pursue all her goals at once, so she has to decide which ones she wants to destroy as lies and which one will become her true life.
8. Sea Wolf - Black Dirt
Leaves in the River
Here on the ground
I cannot hear a sound
Just a strong and steady rain
Getting louder as you sing
It may be true that I lied
I broke a promise that I tried
But my heart no longer beats
My blood makes black dirt under your feet
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk
You'll leave black dirt in the street
I could feel my face grow pale
Sick with fear my senses fail
And as the light fades from my eyes
I smile but don't know why
Legs are growing to the heat of the sun
And my heart no longer beats
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk
You'll leave black dirt in the street
(X2)
Here on the ground I lie
I cannot hear a sound as I die
It may be true that I lied
Broke a promise that I tried
But my heart no longer beats
And when you kill you'll only leave
Black dirt under your feet
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk
You'll leave black dirt in the street
(X4)
From Battler's perspective after Yasu's turmoil engulfs the entire island. When the seagulls cry, no one is left alive.
