citruscactus: Actively ruining the Digimon fandom since 2001

May 06, 2014 01:28

So all right, last week while we were discussing shipping I kind of accidentally came up with the term " Taishirto" and to be honest, the idea wouldn't leave me alone until I drew it. Fair warning, this might be the stupidest thing I've ever made, and I've made a lot of stupid things over the years. And so, without further ado, I present a totally serious comic about Taishirto.

I REGRET NOTHING WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME O_o

Really though, if it had to be Tai x any one particular piece of laundry in particular, you gotta go with this shirt, and not just because it's almost as iconic as the Sacred Goggles.

Let's consider the evidence, shall we?

1. This shirt makes an inordinate number of appearances throughout the Adventure and 02. Tai is shown to be wearing it all throughout the main series, during the "Children's War Game" movie, AND during the flashback in 02 when the oldest kids are using their crest powers to release Azulongmon. The shirt also makes an appearance during the first and third movies; no other article of clothing (probably) is shown being worn by a single character in so many separate instances over the three years spanning the first and second series (the exception here might be TK's Gilligan hat, and yeah, don't think I don't think there's something going on there, too!)

2. Even when things got really tough, like when the kids were having existential crises left and right or the Digimon were all stuck in the Digital World for all those years and the leader of the DigiDestined didn't have anyone else to turn to, that shirt was there for him; it always had his back (literally). Can you say the same thing about Matt, Sora, Izzy, or even Agumon? I don't think so!

3. Speaking of Agumon, remember that time he tried to set Tai's clothes ON FIRE? He claimed it was an honest mistake-- but was it really? Maybe he could sense the bond forming between Tai and his apparel and, wanting to claim the top spot in Tai's list of Favorite Things, the little pyromaniac lashed out at the loving garment in a fit of jealous rage! :o

4. Unlike the rest of the Chosen Children, Tai was given the opportunity to grab a fresh change of clothes not once, but twice over the course of Adventure. You'd think that being in the Digital World and sleeping outdoors for months on end would mean he would want to get out of that filthy thing the first chance he got, but did he? Nope! By the time Episode 21 rolled around, they were already inseparable. TRUE LOVE, MAN.

5. Even if it's not the same shirt, clearly he has more than one of them in his closet if he's able to look the same every day. A harem, if you will. Oh, the scandal!

6. The shirt he wears in the fourth movie bears a striking resemblance to the original. Is it, perhaps, an homage-slash-memorial to the shirt that stole his heart, the shirt he had, sadly, long outgrown? THE ANSWER SHOULD BE OBVIOUS.

Oh wait, did you think I meant the other definition of Taishirto? Sorry boys, I guess you didn't stand a chance after all (besides, Yamachiro *is* a much better name for that combo)

Ahem. Well, now that that's all out in the open, I figure it's only a matter of time before the lynch mob shows up at my door. When they do come, I have a few requests that might help set my restless fangirl spirit at peace: one, that while the details of my demise should remain nebulous, my family should be informed that I died doing what I loved; and two, that my tombstone be inscribed with my name, date of birth, and the epitaph "SHE DID IT FOR THE LULZ" in large, stately font.

By the by, this is my 100th journal entry, and while I was going to post something else to celebrate, these images do a much better job of conveying the nature of this blog than anything else I could have done. I'm... not sure how to feel about that, actually-- other than apologetic. Feel free to back away and leave me to my babbling any time you want. Or, you know, stick around, because who knows what will happen next? (oh wait, I can answer that-- more Digimon weirdness. And some stuff that is not-so-weird involving Pokemon-- I promise!) :)

lulz, big round numbers, art, uggh citrus you are terrible, really stupid shipping opinions, digimon adventure/02
