Digimon + food = win??
Seeing things that remind me of digimon on the inside of my fortune cookies now:
A person with a determined heart frightens problems away.
It sounds like a phrase that would show up in one of Taichi's image songs, or maybe something someone would say about Daisuke. Something about it really sticks with me, though. It's sort of poetic. And maybe it's true, in its own way. Problems and obstacles you encounter while trying to achieve something really Ain't No Thing if you are determined to work though them, and it's all part of the journey, anyway. It's definitely a positive attitude shift I'm trying to make myself feel more often, so if nothing else, it's apropos.
On a slightly-related tangent, I was thinking about trying to make some Adventure-themed food. So far, I have a some ideas that involve putting crests on things (cupcakes and pancakes in particular, or making one of those super-elaborate rainbow layer cakes with the crest colors and decorations), or making digivice-shaped things (cookies would totally work. Also maybe donut holes??). Has anyone ever done tea blends for this fandom? I know nothing about tea, so I'm not the right person for the job. Oh! Or maybe an elaborate eight-course meal with dishes that are inspired by the kids and their digimon... hmmm :D
Obviously food that appears in the show would not be off limits for consideration, but I don't know if there's anything in there that is both interesting and actually appetizing. I mean, eggs feature fairly prominently, but just plain ol' eggs are pretty boring and all the stuff the dub adds about jelly beans and mustard is uh... no. Just no. Mrs. Kamiya's recipes are all intentionally terrible (I'm sure two-bean salad would be fine, and I've never eaten liver, so I can't speak for the liver sticks). The only other food I can think of that we actually see the show is the thing that Mrs. Tachikawa makes involving rice pilaf, whipped cream, and strawberries, which is also more in the "gag" realm (gag as in a joke... but maybe actually gagging too). Is there anything that I'm missing here?
Anyway, you guys should totally come over for a Digimon rewatch party and I'll make you all sorts of goodies and we can sit around and eat and draw pictures and talk and cry about how awesome this show is ;_;
