Why hello, friends! How are you? It feels like it’s been a long time. I’ve been pretty busy with various things, both personal and professional, and I don’t see that letting up soon. But, I do have things I wanted to talk about here, and in the process, I’ll catch you up with what has been occupying my free time over these past few months.

Versailles is pretty incredible, but it's easy to be overwhelmed. It's a really, really full day if you try to cover the palace AND the gardens AND the Marie Antoinette hideaway, and I was a bit burned out by the time I was getting back on the train to Paris. I really want to read "Rose of Versailles" someday because it sounds pretty freaking epic. As it was, I kept thinking back to that same Digimon World Tour episode and thinking, "now how did those Mamemon get in here? Where in the palace did it happen exactly?" While I it was probably pretty easy for the producers to present a realistic view of Odaiba, I'm not sure they bothered to do too much research for those particular episodes :)
Also, I've often felt that the technical component of a high-production stage shows is somewhat of a spectacle in itself. I saw the traveling version of Wicked a couple of years ago, and was really impressed by the sets and design aspects, not to mention all the "magic" that has to happen on stage. Mary Poppins is also pretty amazing because the set literally folds open and closed like a dollhouse, not to mention they have props that collapse and fix themselves, bottomless carpet bags, and chimneysweeps dancing on the ceiling! The logistics of how stuff like that works is something I like to think about (and obviously, the performers are amazing too!)
