Potatoes, Love Letters, and Mitaka

OK I know I'm supposed to be working on other stuff (man, real life, when are you going to let up?) BUT I've been listening to and thinking about the Adventure Mini-Dramas lately and they are something else.

The first one is SO FULL OF CRACK holy cow. Taichi and Sora in Home Ec (with their... digimon??) and singing potatoes and Taichi "evolves" and WHAT IN THE WHAT. I love how the Narrator doesn't know what's going on either. And, honestly, I haven't spent much time thinking about what kind of partner digimon I would want to have but Jagamon is definitely in the top three because LOOK AT HIM he's like the unholy union of a sheep and a potato XD

In the second part, Sora says she doesn't know where she got her hat? Unfair, Sora! Inquiring minds want to knooooow

Poor Jyou kinda gets the shaft in his section, but Gomamon's songs are cute and I love the fringed jacket on the cover :D

OH KOUSHIRO WHO ARE YOU WRITING TO share your secrets with usssss

Also, apparently this was a Christmas release? DIGIMON ORNAMENTS oh yes do want! Plus girls in Santa outfits-- why doesn't Sora get one? >:( -- and JYOOOOOU :DDDDD

The third one made me want to read up on Japanese New Year and dang it sounds kinda awesome? Food and games and postcards and sooo much mochi (also grilled mochi? How does that work??) I mean, OK, aside from the mochi and the postcards, that was my New Year's Day in a nutshell, but anyway. I really like the story in the first two parts of this CD (if you can, uh, call it a story) and looking at this cover gives me the urge to draw these kids in their awesome clothes and Takeru as a CAT and Patamon as a KITE eeeee! Gabumon with this head is pretty hard to wrap my head around but I can kinda see it. And man, the digimon talent show. The impersonations are really lame and hilarious but every kid thinks their digimon is the best and that's so great :3

Anyway, their existence kind of boggles my mind because they're so weird and contain so many in-jokes (I mean, did they even sell well?) but I am glad they exist, because it makes me think that the writers and actors were just goofing off and having a good time while making them. I've never listened to the 02 one where there's tapdancing and mixed-up Digimental evolutions but it sounds awesome and similarly begging for fanart. More projects to add to the queue when I have some free time!

rambling, digimon adventure
