I actually liked the episode. Well, maybe apart from Shay being critical one minute and sitting up talking the next. But that may be because (as a long time Grey's Anatomy devotee) I will take what I can get as far as character development goes, and the writers actually remembering that Kelly has a drug problem and a broken neck and continuing to address it counts as overwhelming with me, lol!

However,

I am now considering this to be all things canon. Because it is better. And therefore the truth.

Since I have your endorsement, me too! <3 I was satisfying myself, as I watched this get superseded, with the fact that I had Kelly in character regarding a) going cold turkey (although with less initial volition here) and b) the flowers for Shay (although, in my world, she'd have had a tropical rainforest in her room, not just a bunch!!).

Are you spoiled / or not minding spoilers? - because there's another part of your comment I want to talk about . . .

For now - THANK YOU for reading and for liking this so much. You're awesome.

Also, sorry to hear your road trip got cut short by fires! Glad you're both okay!

ETA - this exists, and either you or waltzmatildah or both should consider writing it for me! 'Cause . . . 'cause you should!

I didn't dislike the episode, but I guess that I just wanted it to feel a little more organic and real. I mean, from significant head injury to a-okay in the space of an episode? I just felt that there was a lot of potential for drama that was squandered and it felt somewhat rushed to me. Which makes no sense, since I'm sure that by the time that they were filming this they knew that they had a full season pick up? Or maybe not. I do agree that the lack of need to retcon is surprisingly refreshing and perhaps I am being overly harsh. You are totally correct that it makes a pleasant change for the writers to remember what the hell is going on. Although, anyone else remember Andy?

And yes, I was also totally impressed at your apparent psychic skillz!

I am not really spoiled because I do prefer things to mostly be surprises. But having said that it's only actual plot spoilers. I know, for example, that Kelly's dad is supposed to pay a visit and I am excited!

The road trip only got cut short for a day so it could totally have been worse. Although there was a worrying moment this morning where it appeared that my flight out of Hobart might, in fact, be cancelled. Not that this would be massively troubling since I could have more holiday, but I doubt that work would appreciate it!

I totally have the comment fic page open in a tab, so I will be having a definite think about it. I have been the worst at fic/lj whilst on holiday, but I am sure that I will get back into the swing of things soon!

That would have been wonderful.

VERY good point.

Kelly's dad is supposed to pay a visit
That's what I was referring to. I put together a couple of Kelly's lines and the description of their relationship and came up with a theory, which has been running through my fic once or twice. I'm excited for this too.
