I used to love Damon being an unapologetic asshole [and being written like one deliberately

Well, me too. And, first time around with 2.06, I was going through a brief but intense Damon phase, and I think I rationalized Mason's death as Damon "doing what he had to do" (IDEK - don't ask me to explain coherently, because I have no idea wtf I was thinking!!).

So, when I re-watched (and, yes, dammit, it is Kelly Severide's fault . . . and YOURS actually ;) ), I was confounded a) the sociopathic brutality; b) how incredibly sad Mason's death was and c) what the hell was wrong me the first time around that I didn't really see that.

And, honestly, I felt I owed Mason an apology - and this was it!

So, basically, this is the actual saddest thing.
Thank you. That was my reaction to the scene - I'm glad it came through here.

BUT NOW THIS JUST MAKES ME WANT TO SHOVE A VERVAINE SOAKED WOODEN STAKE THROUGH HIS EYEBALL.

AND TWIST IT.

I just want alllll the Katherine/Mason things in my life.
