So, first of all, I am really pleased and REALLY relieved you enjoyed this. It is, as catteo pointed out, kinda cute and fluffy and, well, that tends not be how you and I roll in fics (why does LJ insist on autocorrecting the word "fic" to "tic"? I've had to change it back three times now!) . . . so, I was nervous, to say the least. I am also very pleased you were okay with my portrayal of Izzie, because I know how much you love her, and also how extraordinarily well you write her, and I am not an expert at all.

A lot of that (the cute and fluffy, that is) had to do with the cat! :)

Still, for an undertone of the non-fluffy, there's the fact that Kelly has been off work for close to a year at the beginning of this fic. That he's still in psychotherapy. That he maybe hates himself a bit less, but he is, as you pointed out, (almost) entirely lacking in confidence and (what he didn't tell Izzie, and I didn't tell you), even though, by the end of the fic, he's on the rescue squad again, he's been demoted down to firefighter. I have no idea how they'll handle this on the show. Especially after Vargas' story. But discounting them a) killiing him off (which I've struck through because I don't want to think about it; b) HAVING NINA DOBREV GUEST STAR; c) that Kendra misdiagnosed him, I assume, in addition to rehab, there would be some kind of official consequences.

And now I've spilled the contents of my brain . . .

I love how, even though this is all Izzie-POV, you still manage to get across how freaking tentative Kelly is, and how undeserving and self conscious he feels. Actual genius. It has been declared.

Yeah - that would be cool. Also, I kind of want to see the "I'm on cats today," exchange. I kept replaying it in my head when I was writing this.

You know, this emerged completely organically. Izzie started talking and the more I wrote the more the parallels struck me!! Like OMG, OMG, OMFG!!

Also, I hope you get your AO3 issue sorted out. I didn't want to reply in your post, in case you got your hopes out that I had something intelligent to say. I don't. Except, in a very small way, I sympathize - it took me over half an hour the other day to sort out the formatting over there of a few lyrics at the top of a fic!

I'm at work and on my iphone and it's my last day here and I have SO MUCH to do including writing a court report for a custody battle and just, GAH! I want nothing more than to be preparing to watch the mid-season finale and replying with detail and thought to your comments but... alas. But I will definitely be sneaking peeks at LJ and replying as much as I can. I'm an addict like that!

Your "how will they handle it on the show" paragraph is interesting and something that I've been thinking about too, and chatting to catteo about. In fact, she wondered if perhaps they'd been a bit ambitious with the storyline and whether, now that they've been granted the additional episodes, they'll dial it down [ie. with a misdiagnosis or something like that].

I've read some spoilers because I am THE WORST. And I know we've talked about you being okay with them only recently, but I still like to double check before I blabber about them. If you don't wanna know then, I'm sure I can hold it in for two weeks! Haha! Which, incidentally, YAY. I thought the Christmas break was longer than that! SO RELIEVED when I saw it was coming back in two weeks...

I DID get my AO3 issue sorted! I ended up contacting the Yuletide admin people, the AO3 support team, AND posting for assistance on my flist. And guess who came through? MY FLIST! BOOYEAH! flipflop_diva is the QUEEN OF ALL THE THINGS! And my assignment has been posted and it looks exactly like I wanted it to. WOOT. And phew. And you're right, the formatting over there is all kinds of irritating!!

The Nina Dobrev part, I take it. I'm quite serious. (That is, I wish!). i suspect catteo is right - but I hope they'll continue their over-ambitiousness.

I always forget that Nina is also Katherine!!! I was like, WHY WOULD YOU WANT ELENA THERE? ELENA IS THE ~WORST!!! BUT HAAAAAAAA I GET IT NOW! Oh, GOD. I am so stupid. I think it's partly because I really, REALLY don't follow actors/actresses [unless their name is Aaron Paul and even then, not really!].

I also hope they'll continue with their ambitiousness!

Okay spoilers.

Shay ends up with a head-injury [no idea how serious], so I can think can safely say their ambitions are INTACT!!! All I know about Kelly is that in the return episode he asks Dawson for help with his "problem". I have no idea what shape that request is in... And then, in the SECOND episode back, he tells the Chief, but again, I don't know how that comes about or if he even admits to everything. After this episode, I'm actually wondering if the chief is going to confront him first. Or at least drop hints about his suspicions re. the missing toradol.

My yuletide fic was for Savages which was a movie released earlier this year [and a book released in 2010]. Yuletide itself is a massive fic exchange for small fandoms only. There has to be less than 200 posted fics on AO3 for the fandom to qualify [or something like that]. This is the first year I've ever done it. It's been fun so far. And a good opportunity to branch out into new/small fandoms.
