Are you and I the only ones having fun?

Corso is back, having been sent out to handle CD drive issues stemming from a flaky connector, or something. Once again, I was annoyed and a little put out that being without was necessary, but the service and speed thereof is quite impressive. So I am in high spirits, and I will relate a story prompted by last night's activities, seeing the wonderful Tody Castillo.

To get the full picture, you must imagine a couple disgustingly infatuated with each other. One of them, the male, is familiar with Tody as a local act and enjoys coming out to see him from time to time. The other, the female, is familiar with one song because it was present on a mix CD given her. Tody plays fairly often, so there were some opportunities to go enjoy a show while they were together in person (for they are usually separated by much distance). But they went to a special show, not one in town, but the first one in a nice little café/bar about 60 miles away.

The drive was nice. We passed a cowboy church.

There was some talk about calling ahead and making reservations, but I thought that was a little much. It turns out this place is a lot smaller than someone familiar with Tody's Houston shows would expect. We were squeezed in somewhere anyway. It worked out. We had some food and talked with some people. Tody and the Falcon were surprised to see me there, and I made introductions. I requested of the Falcon to ensure a certain song would be on the set list. He told me it'd happen, and it did. They started the song, we looked at each other, took each other's hands, and started to sing.

I don't know about politics,
and I don't want to know.
But I know I love you so much,
and I need you so.

And I don't know all the holy books,
and I don't ever want to know.
But I know I love you so much,
and I need you so.

Yeah, I'm here to tell you
that I saw it all
the first time I met you,
that you were gonna fall…

And I don't know about your old boyfriends,
and I don't ever want to know.
But I know I love you so much,
and I think about you so.

Yeah, I'm here to tell you
that I saw it all
the first time I met you,
that you were gonna fall…

Yeah, I'm here to tell you
that I saw it all
the first time I met you,
that you were gonna fall…

Yeah, I'm here to tell you
that I saw it all
that first time I met you,
that you were gonna fall
in love with me.

in love with me

At least that's what I sang. It looked like she was singing something slightly different, but I wasn't really sure and it's a little difficult to talk over that sort of thing in the middle of a rockin' show. And by the time things quieted down, it'd fled my mind. She enjoyed the rest of his stuff, so I bought her a CD while we were there. She told me later that she read the lyrics and found she'd been singing it wrong - instead of "I saw it all", she was singing "I sobered up".

Take a listen. I don't see how the mix-up could happen.

(Plug: Tody's an incredibly nice and wonderfully talented person. Everyone who enjoys his type of good music should definitely own a CD.)
