I'll see you in C-U-B-A

Another misremembering of the film schedule led me to arrive at the MFA much earlier than I should have, which meant that tonight I got to see two films instead of just one. Cleopatra and Dame la mano, both in the Latin American film series, meant almost four hours straight of, among other things, that awesome b/v sound in words like Cuba and Cordoba. But they gave me more than that. They taught me a few things.

  • Bending your knees a bit gives your hips the freedom to move. If you stand up straight, stiff as a board, you'll dance like a European.
  • The Bronx is pretty much exactly like Havana.
  • At any point in your life, you have three choices: do what you must do, do what you want to do, or do nothing and sit around to think.
