My contribution to the world is more important than you will ever know.

I get ideas. Sometimes I act on them right away. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes I remember later and try to do a few things before realizing I have to wake up early.

This morning allowed me some time to work on such an idea before the late morning and early afternoon rolled in, bringing with them a bug hunt, requiring me to slog through code and data flow and trying to figure out where the information was dropped. That was okay, but the morning was better.

The morning found me in marvelous Lazy form, writing the ASCII Art Fart graphicalizer. Why bother turning ASCII Art Farts into images? Because then they can be added to a dailystrips run, and no fart need ever be missed again. There's still some work to be done (compare this image to its source), but a damn' fine job for a couple hours of sporadic coding.

Thanks to both halfjack and wendigo for being around to save me when backslashes and single-quoted strings teamed up with bottom-up coding and threatened to destroy my spirit. Then we got to talking about how TCL was even worse and I brought up one of the most inexcusable things about old TCL (it's been fixed, but jeez…)
Suddenly all of your algorithms were O(fucked) if you used arrays.

Good thing I got this mostly done this morning. I wouldn't want to be at the Rhythm Room tonight and thinking about a coding project again - like last time.

On another note, Roald Dahl is such an excellent writer, I want to father his great-grandchildren.

For a minute there, I lost myself.
