Man... last night someone smashed the window out of the fish n chips / pizza by the slice place that recently opened across the street. I imagine some vagrant being kicked out trying to buy a slice of pizza and a coke with 47 cents in nickles and pennies, and returning later, brick in hand, to reap his vengeance.
The window wasnt just broken, but seeminly whatever was left was pushed in suggesting that whoever busted it also broke in and robbed the place. Kinda sucks for those people. I havent been in there, but I think they probably opened before they were ready. The GRAND OPENING sign went up a few weeks ago. Last week I saw the Pepsi people there to install fixtures. The menu, from what I can gather, is taped up in the windows on 8.5x11 pieces of colored paper.
Or maybe the whole venture was just some kind of front for the owner's insurance fraud schemes.
I was going to request today off... using my extra In Lieu day (I love that phrase... in lieu) from NYE. But last week before I could put my request in the boss lady set the sched for this week, which included various coverage BS for me to do today. So... instead, Tuesday will be Mikey's Belated Rockin New Years 2004.
Everyone who sees that I'm taking a day off asks "Ooh, where are you going." They seem put off when I answer, "Uhh... nowhere."
H's reaction was something like consternation over the fact that I never take days off when she's off work (note for the record... 90% of the time she's off mid-week. Gag).
There was an old calvin and hobbes cartoon where C goes up to his mom, who's working in the garden, and tells her he has nothing to do. The mom responds with a list of 3-4 things he could do (clean his room, rake the leaves, that kind of thing). Calvin responds by exclaiming "I was bragging!"
That pretty much sums up how I feel about my days off. The world would be a much more pleasant place if people (especially my gf) accepted and embraced my preference to occasionally spend a day baskin in my own lack of motivation. Right? right.
Tomorrow we (both H and I) are off... so I'm trying to think of something to do. It occured to me that we havent seen the Mixing family and Mr. X (who's got to be shaving by now) in some time, and that inquiring about a short visit might be an option. Of course, I just spoke to Mixing (Hater of New Slang) and neglected to bring it up. Meh.
We were also discussing going to the movies. Though, we are usually at diametrically opposed odds over what to see, so that may not wash. Hrmm....
