[RL, Maggie & Steve]

He had no idea what to do with a tiger. Steve had gone to a zoo. He'd talked to zoo keepers. He'd even gotten online to research tigers. Still, he had no idea what to do, because there seemed to be a crucial difference between tigers, and women who were turned into tigers ( Read more... )

This was going to be difficult. Fervently wishing for the first time in her life that she had left the door unlocked, she slowly walks to the door, head hanging. This sucked. It took a long moment, and lots of clicking and scraping and noise in general, but the door swung open. Don't mind the claw marks on the doorframe, it's just part of the process.

She backed up, and gave him a very, VERY pitiful look, and a little growl of recognition.

Steve winced a little at the scraping sounds, shaking his head. When the door finally opened, Cap shook his head and stepped forward, closing the door quickly behind him. No need to upset the wait staff, really.

"This must be terrible for you." And he was trying quite hard not to chuckle, honestly.

He gets a very dirty look, terrible isn't even the word. It's amazing how expressive kitties (and big kitties!) can be, isn't it? There's lots of room for him to sit, it's a nice big hotel room, great for a cat. Funny how the hotel staff hadn't come to check on the roaring noises, but then again, it wasn't really so odd - hotels probably experienced a lot of...weird things.

She blinks up at him, black eyes mournful. Halp.

Scratching the back of his head, Steve walked past her to prop his shield up against a chair. "Well. Hm." Zoo keepers aren't very helpful in telling you how to take care of a tiger. "I did some research, and apparently I should take you to a zoo." He grinned down at her. Making the best of the situation?

"Do you still have that mythology book? I'd like to know more about this." Pausing for a moment, Steve tilted his head to the side. "Have you been able to eat?"

Maggie's fur stood on end and she back away from him. He better be kidding about taking her to a zoo. D:

She pauses, then trots back to where her laptop was sitting on the table and takes the book that was sitting next to it in her teeth. This is so degrading. She stops in front of him and drops it at his feet, and shakes her head. Nope, no food. She's not terribly hungry though, she ate before she got turned, thankfully.

"Woah, woah, it was just a joke!" He ran a hand through his hair, shrugging. "Maybe Tony and Clint are right, I'm not funny. Sorry, Maggie."

Bending to pick up the book, Steve stayed crouched, keeping on eye level with her. He flipped through the book, looking for Eris - he'd researched what happened, too - and glanced at the tiger. No halp expressions on the food front. "Not hungry?"

Her ears droop a little, and she gives him a gentle bump with her head. She's sorry, Steve. Being a tiger is frustrating, she can't talk. She shook her head again at the food question, not hungry - yet.

She peers over the top of the book - more than likely getting in the way - but she wants to see too.

Reaching out, he pat her head lightly, smiling. Really, no harm done. He can imagine how infuriating this must be.

Laughing when all he can see is orange and black fur, Steve knelt on one knee, laying the book on the floor. "Okay, okay, we'll both look. Is Eris in here?"

He gets a little purr at that; no matter how humiliating it might be - as a cat, pets are very nice.

She gave him a little nudge into a sitting position, squatting can't be comfy! Besides, it makes it easier for her to rest his head in her lap. God, she feels pathetic. And nod, Eris should be in there. At least some version of her should be.

Chuckling a little, Steve sat and crossed his legs, hand settling on top of her head. And then he scratched lightly behind her ears, turning the pages until he stopped at the 'Chaos' heading. "Looks promising," he murmured, scanning the page. His finger tapped against the page, and he made a quiet 'hrm' sound.

"Any clue if this is a timed occurrence? Will it wear off?"

If ever a tiger could actually look content, this was the time. She continues to purr as her eyes start to drift close, one opening at his voice. She lifts her shoulders into a shrug. No idea how long it'll last. Damn goddess.

The petting is methodical, so Steve keeps it up while frowning at the book. He's read the passage three times, and there isn't anything particularly helpful. "Remind me never to anger any of those godly types," he murmured, sighing and turning to the index. Maybe there was something else he was missing. "Do you think any of the others would change you back?" Without an unacceptable consequence, that is.

She's been purring the whole while he's reading - God this is humiliating, especially since the first time she actually gets to meet him she's a flippin' tiger. She growls a little, she didn't make Eris mad, she just answer a riddle! Apparently, it's best to just not talk to them, period. Her big shoulders shrug at his second question, probably not without a price.

"Mm." Poor Maggie. The index wasn't yielding much of anything, and eventually he closed the book with a sigh. "I thought I saw someone on the community asking after a cure. Seems like the only thing left to do is wait." Steve looked down at her apologetically, shrugging one shoulder. "I'll stay until then. If you want me to, that is."

She gives a tiny little nod, she'd appreciate it if he could stay, at least for a little while. If the hotel staff found her like this, she'd be shipped off to a zoo in no time. That wasn't exactly a preferred situation in her book, and having him here would definitely prevent that from happening. She wished she could freaking talk. Damn Eris.

Maggie the Tiger sighs, and noses her way into his lap. She's probably rather heavy, and isn't exactly what you'd call a lap cat, but she figures he can take it.

Steve nodded; if something came up, the Avengers could no doubt handle it. Leaning back with a surprised laugh, he ran a hand over her head, patting. From his reading, female tigers could weigh upward of three hundred pounds.

Of course, Steve could carry that over his shoulders with little problem. Thank Professor Erskine. Settling an arm over her side, he pulled over a chair to lean against. "If you need anything, tell me." Well. Growl at him.
