So I went to the courthouse today to get my court date changed so I have time to actually sign up for a traffic class. I calmly walk in and wait. The other people look really nervous and he calls a few people up and they stumble a bit while talking and he dismisses them and finally calls my name...wrong...I correct him and continue to the front. The lights slam off and a spotlight shimmers on my feet as they clap against the courtroom floor.
"State your case Mr. Luse." The judge said looking over his thin glasses.
I gave a grin off the corner of my mouth and began. In begining to tell my story I only brushed the front floor but as I went on and on into the details of that cold night of the 8th I was jumping up and down on the desks and by the end when i notified his honor I just needed a darn change of court date I was time stepping on the stands.
With a final stop of difiance I jumped down from the stands tossing a copy of my ticket to the secretary. The lights slammed on, but in a full vibrant scarlet red the second I hit the oak courtroom floor. The secretary printed a court date approval sheet and I took my bow in the center, under a fading red light as a single spotlight now streamed down upon my whole self. Coming up from my bow I strode down the aisle and within seconds had the courtroom doors swinging behind me to the beat of my feet tapping down the hall.
