the only reason i acknowledge valentine's day is that it gives me an excuse to ask the boyfriend to take me out to dinner (not that i really need an excuse, but whatever). otherwise, i feel like it makes people feel obligated to do certain things for their significant other or it makes single people feel like total losers because they're not in a relationship. it's just another day for me. the boyfriend knows my feelings about valentine's day but he sent me this text message this morning, "happy valentine's day i love you!" i was surprised, but didn't text him or call him back right away.
he called me a few hours later.
me: i got your text message!
the bf: cool!
me: i thought you didn't believe in valentine's day.
the bf: i don't; i just didn't want to be the stupid boyfriend. gotta cover my ass.
