Aw, Adam! I don't know what to say. We all have our low periods because nobody's perfect. Why are you doubting yourself? Or, I mean, why is the other Adam doubting himself? Is it because you don't have a PhD? Shit loads of people don't have PhDs!

As for changing friends and lovers and all that, of course it didn't work. Nobody else can make this better. You need to learn to be at peace with yourself and nobody else can do that for you. I happen to think that you're a swell guy and that you'll work things out for yourself, but you're the only one who can do it! *hugs*
