I am not sure where this year will take me. What I am sure of is I think I need just one more Frosh to get it properly out of my system. But this one is intended to be my last. I am not sure where this year will take me.
I realised about a half second ago why I found this Frosh, my fourth as a leader and organiser to be my best Frosh. It was because it was like being in one of the Lord of the Rings films. When Jackson directs, you feel, really feel the grand gigantic scope of everything before you, as well as the small intimate moments of one-to-one interaction. This Frosh was so special to me because of it being done exactly how I wanted it to be done; and I never told anyone that they were my terms for a Frosh Week to be near perfect. We got to be "in charge" as an executive. UTM Students' Union oversees everything, and brings in the other organisations to have their own strong events. I do not say this as some sort of power struggle. It's just a fact. We chose to have joint responsibility with SAC for the leaders and that was it. As always, they took financial responsibility for the carnival and UTMAC took responsibility for the Superman Training Camp. But that was it. It was UTMSU that sold out tickets to Frosh Week, and more than once, I might add. Anyway. . .I don't want to sound like a sore winner. This Frosh kicked all the others' asses. In 2nd year, I was just a newbie and Kat (the Coordinator) didn't think much of me, given that I wasn't from the usual crew. For 3rd year, we were high spirited and fun, but clearly hated by most of the leaders of the day. By 4th year, I was co-coordinating the carnival and running our volunteers when the flake flaked and we had the BEST. SAC. PARTY. EVER. But still, not THE week that I had sought. This Frosh was that week. In this week, I was an overseer (I make no claims to being THE person, we had an amazing OC in Nida, not to mention Berkha watching her like a hawk and Rabaab, Adam, Aun, Andrew and FANTASTIC leaders. Oh, and Baby) AND a man I am proud of was coming to my school. On top of that, I managed many other personal interactions with Froshie and Leader alike which brings in the other half of the Peter Jackson/LOTR comment.
A day-by-day account is due, but I do not have it in me tonight. I will, though.
Last Frosh? Best Frosh.
