neon-hardon gave me:
baby corn: In freshman year of college, I was a little bit in love with the salad bar at my school. It had awesome baby corn and I ate tons of it. My roommates actually made me give up baby corn for a day as part of a game we were playing, heh.
chugga chugga: I believe this explains it all:

flying butt gnomes: Ahahahaha. I don't really remember how this started, but my old roommate and I got into a fake argument once about which imagined (by us) US-version of Hogwarts was better (I think I was arguing for one in Portland, Oregon & she was fighting for one in Portland, Maine). Somehow we came to the conclusion that one of the schools was either better or worse because it had flying butt gnomes. Yeah, I don't know.
jason webley:
Jason Webley! He is an accordion player from Seattle who makes amazing music and puts on incredible live shows. He started off as a busker at the Pike Place Market (where I work!) and gradually built a cult following in town. He has a thing about vegetables (tomatoes in particular), the number 11, and the letter X. His songs can be moving, heartbreaking, hopeful, energizing or completely silly. Every fall and spring, he used to ritually die and be reborn on stage. I have been going to his concerts for seven years now and he is one of the most unique, authentic performers I have ever seen. If he ever comes near you, I highly recommend seeing him. (His shows are cheap, too!)
richard ayoade: He is a hilarious British actor/comedian who I first saw as Saboo in The Mighty Boosh (in fact, 'Nanageddon' was one of the first episodes I watched). I also enjoy him in Nathan Barley and The IT Crowd. In fact, he is about 80% of why I like The IT Crowd. He plays the most adorable socially awkward geek ever. ♥
secret diary of a call girl: I'll admit, I mostly started watching this to oggle Billie Piper in skimpy clothing. I like the show, though! After watching Doctor Who, it was really interesting to see Billie play someone so different from Rose. And because of the TV show, I decided to read the book it was based on (Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl), which was a pretty good read. [ETA: Spoilers for the S2 finale in the comments]
veganism: My parents are vegans, and thus, I was raised vegan. I don't at all feel forced into this (in fact, I'm more strict about it than my parents are), and I'm really happy that I was raised this way. While I do think veganism is healthy and better for the environment, my main reason for not eating meat or dairy is because of animal rights. It's really interesting how in the 21 years I've been alive, the awareness of veganism has changed so much. When I was little, nobody knew what I meant when I said I was vegan, and while I still get asked about my reasoning for the choice and the details of what I can and can't eat (and where I get my protein)*, most people have at least heard the word these days. It's pretty cool, I think.
*For the record, I'm not at all bothered by any of these questions. I'm always happy to answer questions about veganism. :)
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
momebie!!! Hope it was fantabulous! ♥
