You know what I want? I want Gabe Saporta and Russell Brand to hang out together. They'd be tall! And ridiculous! And somewhat skeevy-seeming, but actually nice! They could talk about revolutions! And be smart at each other! ♥ Someone should make this happen. Pete Wentz could probably arrange it. *nods*
Now I'm gonna do that bandom beginnings meme that's floating around everywhere.
1. Bandom fangirl/boy since: March 1st, 2007.
2. First band in the fandom: Panic(!) At The Disco.
3. How, why, and when did you get into bandom? Was it a gradual thing, or did bandom basically slam you in the face? Did you resist at first? Who was involved in your downfall?
My fall into bandom was not gradual at all. One day, completely innocently, I made
a post in which I said, "Multiple people on my flist have recently confessed their love of Fall Out Boy and/or bandslash. This amuses and intrigues me." I believe I was referring to
forcedmovement,
kueble &
expatiates. (Also
wordsaremyfaith, but she'd already been in it for a few months).
I really, really wasn't expecting anything to come from that, but
wordsaremyfaith linked me to
addictedkitten's Panic primer, and I fell instantly in love with Ryan Ross. I spent the evening looking at pictures and downloading music.
equanimity23 also provided me with video links and other things to tempt me into bandom.
For the first month or so, I was mostly focused on Panic, but also liked Fall Out Boy quite a lot. It wasn't until late April of 2007 that I got interested in My Chemical Romance...which was also
wordsaremyfaith's fault, actually. She told me the Pete/Mikey story, and I decided Mikey was adorable, and therefore should give his band a chance. *facepalm*
In the next couple of weeks MCR became my favorites, and have remained so ever since.
4. What did your core bandom band look like when you got into the fandom? What fashion phase where they in?
Panic was writing music in a cabin at the time. They were scruffy and scarved.
5. What was your first impression of each of them?
Eh, I'll just do my original main three -
Panic(!) At The Disco: I thought they were the most adorable boys ever. I was totally impressed that they were supposedly straight, and yet completely comfortable with cuddling and wearing make up and being androgynous. I listened to Fever almost non stop for about a month.
Fall Out Boy: It was mostly about Pete Wentz for me, honestly. I was drawn to the eyeliner, what can I say? I thought the whole band were sweet and dorky, and I liked Pete & Patrick's BFF-ness. I enjoyed their music, but was never obsessed with it in the way I was with Panic's.
My Chemical Romance: Hahaha. I was totally creeped out by them at first! I think I was seeing Revenge-era pictures, with the blood and the vests and Frank's X-eyes. I didn't like it. They looked like they were trying way too hard to be intimidating. [For the record, I now love Revenge-era!MCR]. I downloaded The Black Parade out of curiosity and didn't give it much of a chance because, like I said, they creeped me out. [Ditto with the loving it now, obviously].
It wasn't until I learned about Mikey's history with Pete that I bothered to learn more about the band. The first post I made about them was a Mikey picspam, and in the comments I said things like: "In all honesty, both Gerard and Frank freak me out sometimes." and "So yeah, if I ever fully grow to love MCR, it will definitely be through Mikey Way."
...AHAHAHAHAHA. I was dumb. Soon after, I fell hard for Gerard Way and never looked back.
6. What was the first bandom fic you ever read? What did you think of it?
*checks delicious* Not sure it was actually the first I read, but the first one I saved was
Except Under the Pale Light by
addictedkitten. It was Pete/Ryan, who were my original OTP, and I remember liking it pretty well.
7. When was your first bandom concert experience? What was it like?
My Chemical Romance was the first band I saw. On May 21st, 2007 I went to The Black Parade Tour, and it was beyond amazing. It was also my first time meeting someone from the internet (the lovely
equanimity23), so that was exciting. I almost didn't go because at the time I bought the ticket, Mikey was still my favorite, and he wasn't going to be there. Haha...wow, am I happy that I decided to go anyway.
Alright. Bed time now. Oh, wait! I just have to
quickly flail about these two pictures.
Gerard and Lyn-Z! Being dorks! At a con! With pink hair! <33333333333333
Ahahahah, shut your face Frank Iero.
Okay, done now.
ETA: Ack! I suck and forgot to wish a (now slightly belated) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to
erraticonstilts!!!! *throws sparkles at you* ♥
