I forgot to post about it here, it looks like, but I actually got 50,000 words written for NaNoWriMo this year.
I hesitate to call it a novel, but it certainly fits into the paradigm of "no plot, no problem" from a number of angles. Which is fine - my main goal was to keep butt-in-chair and fingers-on-keyboard to fulfill the word count, not produce anything that really resembled more than a pile of words.
I do anticipate being able to excise things and put them to use elsewhere, as well.
So it only took 12 years and about six different tries, but I succeeded. There may be something to this perseverance business after all.
