Log 39 -- 01-19-2011 -- happy birthday?

Jan 19, 2011 13:55

I suppose my birthday was in early January, in human terms. January 2. I would be 43 now, counting from the time I was installed into my old space station. And in light of that, I'll post my resolutions for this year.

1. Build a space station here. An atmospheric platform would be the next best thing. At least try to.

2. Further my own cyberization ( Read more... )

birthday, resolutions, cursed, new year

It's difficult to accomplish things here, but I still feel I'm making some small amount of progress.

My goals aren't exactly the same as your goals, SHODAN, even if they are close. They'll pull me in different directions sometimes.

But we should hash this out. Do you care where I am when we do? Do you want me to come over?

No, I don't care where you are. All I care is that you sit down and explain your sudden change in behavior. I may not be human, but I'm no fool. I can tell when someone is seeming...unfortunate, in their alignment.

Unfortunate in my alignment? What exactly does that mean?

Strange changes in everyday action tend to mean that something is wrong with a situation. Given that your sudden change is an avoidance of me, that provides a few scenarios of different severities.

1. You have decided not to work with me any longer and wish to abandon this alliance.
2. You have been compromised and cannot continue to associate with me and my ideals.
3. You have actively turned against me and are avoiding retribution should you give that fact away.
4. There is always room for another reason that I have not yet considered, due to the irrationality of the human mind.

There is another reason, actually. I still want to work with you to find a way to understand and control this City's mechanisms for both our purposes.

However, there has been a change, and I haven't been sure how you'd react to it. You may be an artificial intelligence, but you're still stuck in a human body. The fact is that I'm no longer want to have a physical relationship with you.

...That is really the only reason? Just that?

You--you fool. You had me fearing betrayal when all it was, was that you didn't want to sleep with this body anymore? Why should I care about that? I care far more about our original commonalities than that!

[and he is very grateful for the text, too, definitely XD ]

To be fair, if I was going to betray you, I wouldn't be so obvious and open about it. I had thought maybe some time away would change things for me, but apparently that wasn't the case. And then I wasn't sure how to bring it up.

It's one of those issues that tends to cause strong emotional attachments to people, regardless of those people claiming to have no feelings at all. That's something I've gone through before as well.

But I should've mentioned something earlier. I apologize.

And what is the cause of this?

Yes, you should have. I'm no weakling. I can hear whatever you have to say and remain intact. Still, as long as nothing is truly out of sync here, all is well.

[ damn, he'd been hoping to avoid the why by implying things- he should've known that wouldn't work. This was going better than he expected, but there were still plenty of reasons to keep Anthony out of it... ]

I'm not entirely sure myself. It may be just the passage of time. I've never been as interested in that sort of thing as most people.

So we can get back to a relative normal, then?

Very well. Human biology is fickle -- that, I know and comprehend -- and as such you cannot correct it, especially given your regeneration.

Ergo, yes, we can return to our former state. Though I will be watching you.

There are some definite downsides to the regeneration, unfortunately. It locks me into this state, as beneficial as it can be.

All right. I won't be evading you any longer. Hopefully I haven't strained our relationship too far in trying to preserve it.

[ ooc: Cooool. :3 Okay, so she can hack into his device conversations, and also can listen in on his phone for voicemail and any calls that end up happening, stuff like that. He'll have no idea about it.

-oh, and she can hack into his computer, too, but I doubt there'd be too much that would interest or worry her, there. He doesn't actually use it to take notes or anything, really. ]
