we survived....

And that applies to a few things over the past week. It is the monsoon season and in true monsoon fashion our power went out, in conjunction with the "directional rain" that so likes to pour through our front window in the dining room. Oh and whenever we have rain more than a sprinkle it also likes to come in through the ceiling vents. You know like in public bathrooms, those fan things. Well we have them in each bathroom and ove rthe kitchen stove. As a ventilation system. I guess if it had actually been clean when we moved in I would be more satisfied with it, but every time the rain trickles through this muck and ick so there are brown-ish droplets on the stove or toilet lid.
the power was out for about 2 hours. it happened on a night that I wanted to just get in bed early and not deal with anything. Ah ha.. mother nature wanted us to have a family night on the couch. then I was falling asleep we all went to bed and not 15 minutes later kiddo comes to our door to say she can't sleep at all. She can spin herself out with imagination alone. ALl of the outdoor sounds and strange shadows freak her out to no end. But we survied.

And work. Last weekend the main system had gone out and people were thouroughly snarky. We appologized and then on the second day they had us taking paper orders. Fun fun.. Some people should try and look online first. I mena the way they describe things and with half of our system down it was a sad situation. They use our statistics of how many calls we took and how much the order was for. I get a note from my manager with one of the sttas saying "how can I help". I wanted to scream at her and say you could have gotten the system up and half of those calls would have been orders instead of crappy scores. THank you very much.

And in the general sense we are staying above water. The builder I have een working for is nearing the end of its' run. They are down to some one person departments. there are only 8 sales agents (total of 8 people selling their homes across town down from at least 35 perhaps more in the prime) I heard they are not doing a draw that is when you still get money even if you don't sell anything. yeah.. they have to sell or they get nothing. The engineer has been taking numerous trips this summer. It wouldn't be so bad ecept well he pays me more than the regular job except I should be saving taxes. But right now.. well can't afford to save need it for bills.
The good thing is that we are not resorting to credit to pay regular bills and we don't use one to pay another. however each pay day is marked on the calendar in alternating highliter colors. So we can see the influx and have an excell of where it should be going each month.
I am waiting as patiently as I can for the health insurance to start up through the hubby's work. He mentioend they let a guy go from work and that just stirs up the worry in me. When we talk about money my foot taps. If I am pretendingto be calm and we are watching a movie my foot is up and tapping side to side. He noticed it and grabs it in mid swing. I just keep telling myself htat we are dong just fine and it works itself out for the best.
I have a tiny bit of work from the engineer to do this week. I look forward to the check on Monday when he returns.

We had talked abotu going to the stich and pitch up in PHX a Diamondbacks game with a knitting thing too. We figured his passion for sports and my passion for fiber. but the money is hindering that for us. Oh well it is nearly a thousand degrees in PHX this time of year.

In other news, we put on the olympics in the evening when there is not other stuff on. and I saw this one rowing match. During the medal ceremony the bronze team you could visibly see them seething while our anthem played. Isn't this supposed to be about sportsmanship and athleticism and all that jazz... I mean yeah everyone wants to show how great they are at their sport, but they also know that only three people get medals so strive for your personal best. (sigh).

I am glad for the days away from the dual jobs, however we need that income and I worry. I try to take time to relax, read a book knit a bit. but I can not get into larger projects. I have the small/easy stuff that can be done while at work and right now one lace scarf the habu cashmere waiting patiently for when I am willing ot pay more attention.

Ahh the sounds of war must be HBO... it is 9:00 time for his show.
Hugs, *C
