Ooo, a beagle. They are smart! I was thinking something smart like a German Shepherd:

Aw, that is cute doggy. But German Shepherds are police dogs. Beagles are hunters.

Hmm, true. Bart should probably be a greyhound instead, but those are lacking the awesome flowing red fur. ;)
