Maybe love can be reciprocated.

It was raining heavily outside the Jimusho and Chinen was sitting by the window just watching the way the rain slid down the side of the window. He lifted up his finger and traced one single raindrop as it fell, smiling to himself absorbed in his own little world.

Takaki turned down the corridor that led to the rehearsal room, glancing at his wristwatch. He was early on purpose, knowing that Chinen would end school early every Thursday and head straight to the Jimusho. The door of the room was opened and he entered it quietly, wanting to surprise the younger boy, but instead he found himself staring at Chinen, captivated by what he saw.

Chinen was asleep, the side of his head leaning against the window, one of his hands resting lightly on the window pane. Maybe it was because his feelings for Chinen was so strong, or maybe it was just simply just something so beautiful and pure, but whatever it was, Takaki just could not help but find himself leaning over and placing a small kiss on the small boy’s lips.

That was enough to wake Chinen up from his nap, and when he looked up to see who snuck a kiss from him, he smiled and raised his arms to encircle the culprit in a hug. Takaki smiled as he gathered the small one into his arms as he joined him by the window pane, holding him closer to himself as he breathed in the scent of Chinen’s shampoo. As they looked out of the window, neither said a word as they savoured each others’ presence.

Hikaru smiled as he slowly backed out of the room, giving them some time alone for just a little while more. He leaned his head back on the wall and closed his eyes, thinking back on the conversation he and Chinen had just 2 weeks before.

“Chi,” he asked seriously as he looked down at the small boy, “can you keep a secret?”

“Eh?” Chinen looked back at Hikaru, confused, “alright, what is it?”

Hikaru looked back up at the sky and said softly, “The truth is that, I like Inou.”

“HEH?” Chinen exclaimed, totally surprised, “you do?!”

“Yeah,” Hikaru laughed, “for the longest time.”

Chinen was lost for words, he never expected this.

“So… so aren’t you going to do anything about it?” Chinen asked, still shocked, “aren’t you going to tell him?”

Hikaru shook his head, “Not yet Chi, I like things the way they are now.”

He shook his head at his own cowardice and slid down onto the floor. Seeing the 2 of them inside really made him envy them, seeing the 2 of them really made him rethink what Chinen said.

“So you want to get ice-cream later?” came a voice from one end of the corridor, Hikaru turned his head to see Yuto and Yamada strolling towards him. “or would you rather have ramen?” Yamada asked, looking at the other boy.

Yuto looked back at him with a cheeky grin and said, “Well that depends.”

“Depends on what?” Yamada asked, exasperated, all he wanted to do was to eat something after rehearsal, and he’ll do anything for food.

“We’ll see,” Yuto looked to the front, his eyes dancing with laughter. Then he leaned over and whispered something into Yamada ears.

Yamda paused in his footsteps and watched as Yuto walked on, and Hikaru saw that he was turning red.

I wonder what Yuto said to make his blush like that, Hikaru thought to himself, as he stood up to stop Yuto from entering the room. He nodded his head to signal Yuto to look inside. Yuto peeped in and nodded his head back to show that he understood. Then he turned back and walked back to the blushing Yamada and linked his arm through his, leading the shorter boy away while saying something about getting hot chocolate from the vending machine.

Hikaru returned to his seat on the floor, closing his eyes as he rested his head on the wall. Images of Inou played through his head, but he was used to it. Dreaming about Inou was so normal that it was be odd if he did not, and it was driving him crazy.

Then he felt someone plop down on the floor next to him hastily, and Hikaru opened his eyes to see who it was.

Speak of the devil, he thought to himself, as he found himself face to face with the exact person he was thinking of. Inou was dabbing his face with a handkerchief and Hikaru saw a single drop of rain spill down his cheek.

Inou grinned, “Guarding the nest of the love birds eh?”

Hikaru laughed quietly, nodding his head. “Work has been nuts these days, they hardly had time together. So lets just let them be for awhile.”

“Yeah,” Inou agreed, nodding his head, “well, the others won’t be here for half an hour, so let’s head to the opposite room.”

Hikaru held his breath as Inou stood up and opened the opposite door, entering the empty dance studio. He watched as Inou slowly disappeared into the darkness, wondering to himself how many times he had to see that. Hikaru pulled himself up and followed the other boy, suppressing the overwhelming urge to hug Inou from behind.

When he entered the room, he saw Inou looking out of the window and he joined him there.

Looking down he saw that within the protruding open air balcony a level below them, stood Yuto and Yamada unsheltered from the rain. Leaning over the railing, the 2 boys had their hands out catching the tiny water droplets that were falling from above them. Then slowly, Yuto placed one of his hands over Yamada’s, intertwining them together with the raindrops they caught firmly between them.

Hikaru gently tugged Inou’s arm, wanting to give these 2 boys privacy as well. He walked towards the centre of the room and stretched himself out on the floor. Inou laughed and joined him, staring at the ceiling above them.

After around 5 minutes of comfortable silence, Hikaru turned to his side and faced Inou, folding his left arm downwards to act as a pillow for his head. With his eyes he traced the outline of Inou’s features, getting lost in them.

Then Inou turned to his right and mirrored Hikaru’s actions, resting his head on his arm as he threw a small smile at Hikaru.

And before he knew it, Hikaru found himself planting a soft kiss on the other boy’s lips.

Part 2 should be up soon!
